WWE RAW: 5 Reasons why Bray Wyatt attacked and laid out Kurt Angle

Bray Wyatt took out Kurt Angle in this creepy segment

The RAW before SummerSlam had to be a grand show, based on the fact that it was the second-last stop before the show aired. In many ways, it has been one, but something very interesting would happen during the said show.

Kurt Angle would come out to a rousing ovation, to referee a match between Cedric Alexander and Drew McIntyre on RAW. And then the lights would go out, and Bray Wyatt's brand new avatar 'The Fiend' would be seen in the middle of the ring.

Let me list out 5 reasons why this happened for your reading pleasure right here. Please chime in with your thoughts and views in the comments section below as well.

Bray Wyatt is certainly leaving quite an impression on the roster...

#5 To establish The Fiend as a heel, before the big SummerSlam match

WWE has a strange booking system where the babyfaces appear so non-violent, that the audience invariably sides with the heels. But the fact of the matter is that Finn Balor is the clear babyface in this contest and this would mean that The Fiend is the heel, for the match. Balor is going to try and fight this match fair and square, while Wyatt will use trickery and mind games, I'm guessing.

Unfortunately, because The Fiend is a far more exciting character at the moment I think that the audience will certainly side with him. But WWE's intent will be to showcase Balor as someone who's playing fair, who wants to win the match to stop the terror that he's been experiencing, while Wyatt shows up unannounced and causes chaos.

Another thing that proves Wyatt is a heel is that the Rambling Rabbit said that he has secrets to spill about the Firefly Fun House. And a furious Wyatt came out soon after to put the Wikileaks of the bunny world away.

#4 To get the mandible claw over as a finishing move

It did seem at one point that there was something poetic about using the mandible claw on WWE Hall of Famer, Mick Foley. But now, Wyatt used the same deranged move on Kurt Angle as well. It is clear as day that Sister Abigail is making way for the mandible claw.

This will be done without the assistance of Mr. Socko, but the 'Hurt' and 'Heal' gloves are a lot creepier, I feel. In any case, the purpose of carrying out this attack was to prove that Bray Wyatt has a new move with which he'll be putting away opponents for good. It fits a lot better with this character than Sister Abigail did, I would presume.

Maybe like AJ Styles or The Undertaker, Wyatt will use both moves in unison. It would certainly make his arsenal a lot more interesting.

#3 To make a statement because Kurt Angle is a hometown hero

Kurt Angle is a really big deal in Pittsburgh. Maybe as big as the Harts are in Canada.

And therefore, taking him out in front of an adoring crowd created a shocking moment for the fans that will remember with much dread. It has earned him heat and notoriety that people will talk about for a long time.

Maybe this is the way that Bray Wyatt will go in the months that follow- he will end up attacking hometown heroes in their hometowns. I mean wasn't the idea of Angle returning to referee a match between Drew McIntyre and Cedric Alexander weak, to begin with?

And unless this segment happened, it would be pointless. I hope that if this is indeed the way forward, WWE builds up the reason for legends appearing on the show in a better manner, so that we don't predict these attacks coming.

#2 To add an element of unpredictability, to get viewers to tune in

The reason why WWE's numbers are falling is that it is not must-see television anymore. People watch it at their own convenience because there is no fear of the show or its storylines getting spoiled at all. It is a predictable affair, and you may, in fact, choose to watch the highlights on YouTube or log in to Sportskeeda to catch the results.

This was the only real surprise on the show this week, and one has to assume that this is one of the reasons why fans online are praising the segment so much. Almost everything WWE does gets criticized by the vocal minority that is active on Twitter, but the unpredictable nature of the Fiend's attack make for some truly compelling viewing.

A lot of viewers drop out midway through the RAW broadcast. But thanks to Wyatt's jolt in the arm, they may stick on until the very end.

#1 Leading to a match against a WWE legend?

I mean this is all clearly headed somewhere right? On one hand, you have Bray Wyatt come in to attack Mick Foley and on the other, you have him take out Kurt Angle on RAW soon after.

I have a feeling that he will take out some other WWE Hall of Famers which will lead to a legend stepping up to the plate, challenging Bray Wyatt to a match down the line. This could happen at a big stage like Survivor Series or even The Royal Rumble, if not WrestleMania.

I would say that The Undertaker or Kane would be the ideal candidates because of the nature of their gimmicks. But even if someone like Triple H were to step up, it would be a big deal.

Ultimately, Bray Wyatt deserves a huge push and I'm glad to know he's getting one.
