WWE Raw Preview: 26 September, 2016

Time for fallout

There were some huge rumors surrounding Clash of Champions going around. Some suggested a return from Goldberg, while there were some speculations about Triple H returning as well. The core of all these rumors was the expectation of something huge happening at the show.

But unfortunately, the show did not have that moment that to break the Internet.

Despite this, there were plenty of solid booking decisions and matches at the pay-per-view. After what happened, the fans are now eagerly waiting to see what WWE comes up with on the latest edition of Monday Night Raw and here is a run-down on the possible segments.

1- The new United States champion

The champ

Roman Reigns was crowned the United States champion at Clash of Champions after he defeated Rusev. With all the heat that Reigns is attracting from the WWE Universe, it was hard for WWE to push Reigns into the main event scene. But with the United States title win, Reigns might spend some quality time in the mid card, which in turn is a good change for him.

The Roman Reigns – Rusev storyline might have a couple of more chapters to it before the wrap-up, but Reigns looks set to survive the storm. There are a lot of permutations that WWE could try with Reigns as United States champion and the first step will be made on Raw this week.

2- First title defense in the books

First title defense – done

After winning the Cruiserweight Classic tournament and the Cruiserweight championship a couple of weeks back, TJ Perkins got some pay-per-view exposure at Clash of Champions. He locked horns with WWE veteran Brian Kendrick at the show and delivered a good match. Perkins retained his Cruiserweight title with a win and now, WWE could start the next storyline for Perkins.

There are some interesting names in the division that the creative team could use. But it would be more noteworthy if WWE comes up with the least expected name as the next contender for Perkins. A returning Cruiserweight could break the internet and stir up the division at the same time.

3- The conclusion of Cesaro and Sheamus

Still unresolved

The last match of the best of seven series between Cesaro and Sheamus went down at Clash of Champions, but when the fans expected a decisive finish to the whole storyline, WWE decided to take a different path. With the series tied at 3-3, the match at Clash of Champions was supposed to be the tie-breaker and it ended in a no-contest.

The winner was supposed to get a title opportunity soon, so it is important that WWE ends the series in a proper manner. The air surrounding the same will be cleared this week on Raw and hopefully, the decision that WWE makes would make the fans happy.

4- Rise of Nia and Charlotte’s win

Nia is slowly rising

The Women’s division on Monday Night Raw is turning out to be a big talking point. Charlotte successfully defended her Women’s championship against Bayley and Sasha Banks at Clash of Champions and as expected, she had some help from Dana Brooke. The main storylines of the division is indeed revolving around these three women but at the same time, there is a slow rise from Nia Jax. She defeated Alicia Fox on Sunday night and will need something new.

Paige is another superstar that deserves a mention. She could make her return soon and irrespective of what’s happening in her personal life, is a talented performer that WWE should not waste.

5- Champion best friends

Owens got the better of Rollins, all thanks to Jericho

“Sept. 24, 1995. In Your House 3. 1st WWE PPV my dad ever bought for me. Tonight, 21 years later almost to the day, I main-event my 1st one” Owens tweeted out before Clash of Champions. And it was a happy ending for the champion. He successfully defended his WWE Universal championship against Rollins with some help from his best friend Chris Jericho.

It would be safe to say that Rollins was screwed a bit at the show and he would be out to seek revenge this week on Raw. The bromance between Owens and Jericho is the best sub-plot in WWE at the moment due to the brilliance of both these men.
