WWE Roadblock: 5 Potential finishes for the Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns match

This should be the end of the line between the Reigns and Owens

On Sunday, December 18th, WWE presents their newest Raw brand exclusive, Roadblock: End of the Line. A number of matches on that night will no doubt prove to be the conclusion to existing rivalries, as the title suggests.

Will Sasha Banks and Charlotte finally be done with one another? Will the New Day retain their WWE tag team championships, and will Rich Swann retain his newly won WWE Cruiserweight championship? There are a number of questions that should be answered this evening, but there may be even more questions asked as the night progresses.

One particular feud that has some steam built into it involves United States Champion Roman Reigns and WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens. It is clear that Owens and Reigns don't like each other.

With that said, their rivalry involves others as well, since both Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho have played parts in this ongoing feud between The Guy and the host of The Kevin Owens Show. Who will come out victorious, and who will be left laying out cold?

Here are five potential finishes for the Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns championship match at Roadblock: End of the Line.

#1 Chris Jericho interferes and Kevin Owens retains

Will Owens drink it in with Jericho’s involvement?

If fans do just as Chris Jericho has suggested and drink it in, then maybe Kevin Owens should take in his fair share.

As has been shown over the past few weeks, while the relationship between Owens and Jericho have appeared shaky at times, it has also been demonstrated that the perceived friction may have been nothing more than a ploy to try to convince outsiders that there is a rift between the two Canadians.

During the lead up to Roadblock, Reigns attempted to play Owens against Jericho, and the result was the closest the duo had appeared to be divided. When Owens emphatically shouted at Jericho to 'shut up', the former champion was taken aback.

That was that same evening where fans saw Jericho attempting to leave the building, only to stop and inform backstage interviewer Charly Caruso that his friendship with Owens was over.

It is very likely that this is all simply another ploy, leading onlookers to believe that there is some division between them and that Owens is vulnerable, only to have Jericho come through the crowd to make the save and cause a distraction leading to an Owens win.

#2 Seth Rollins interferes and Kevin Owens retains

Rollins may have unfinished business with Owens and it may show on Sunday

While the WWE Universal championship appears to be the title that continues to elude Seth Rollins, that doesn't mean that he will keep his distance from his match. Over the past few months, Rollins and Owens battled one another over the championship, but much to the chagrin of Rollins he continued to come up short.

Typical booking would hold that a face should not cost a potential ally his chance at the championship. While that would be traditional booking, it appears WWE is focused on breaking conventions, such as having Rollins interject himself in this match.

Perhaps Rollins' role in this match will be that he is so focused on Owens that he will ignore the implications in order to lay into the champion.

It is unlikely that Rollins would do it with any malicious intent towards Reigns; he is no doubt tired of seeing Owens continue to use underhanded tactics to put himself on top. Frustration can get the better of anyone, Rollins' frustration has been simmering long enough to boil over during this event.

Rollins has every reason in the world to want to get his hands on Owens, the question is...will he do it?

#3 Seth Rollins interferes and Roman Reigns wins

Could the architect aid the Roman empire on Sunday?

The rivalry between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns commenced when The Architect took a steel chair to the back of Reigns in what signified the end of The Shield. Their feud was beginning to heat up before Reigns suffered a sports hernia and the rivalry halted once again when Rollins tore his ACL.

When they rekindled their rivalry, it was not only brief but also spelt the end of their feud. They have appeared to put their past issues aside for the sole purpose of fighting a common foe. As they say, time heals all wounds, and in the case of Rollins and Reigns, they have begun to look ahead.

When Rollins came to the aid of Reigns, some questioned if he there more to exact revenge against Jericho and Owens, or to help out his former friend. It appears that it is a combination of both. Rollins may want the WWE Universal championship, but he won't look to capture it like he would have in the past.

Reigns has received a tough time from the fans, and having Rollins aid him in a win could either help or hinder that. In the event that it helps, the door is opened for a Rollins and Reigns rematch, where a great matchup would certainly be the result.

#4 Chris Jericho interferes and Kevin Owens wins via disqualification

Best friends help each other keep their championships

It seems as though Jericho's involvement in the match is almost a given. He has interjected himself in almost all of Kevin Owens' matches. While they may be on the outs, it may just be another swerve that is being played out a little longer.

A common belief is that Jericho and Owens are again trying to trick both the WWE fans and Roman Reigns. Throughout the match, there may be signs that there are issues between the two, and Jericho may get involved, costing Owens the win.

A consideration that may not be thought of very often is that maybe, just maybe, Jericho did have issues with Owens and that he does interject himself, not to protect Owens, but rather to attack him.

Fans may recall the point when an upset Jericho left the ring and the building, only to walk into a beating at the hands of Seth Rollins, and Owens wasn't there to back up his 'best friend in the world'.

Jericho's motivation could be that he's tired of protecting Owens and taking bullets for him, and instead, wanting his opportunity at the WWE Universal championship. He costs Owens the win because Jericho wants to be the one to beat him for the title.

#5 Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho interfere causing a double disqualification

Could their match up spill into the main event?

All of the men who could affect this match have faced one another at one point, with the exception of Owens and Jericho. The animosity that appears to be circling amongst the four of them could lead to everyone at some point being involved in what is supposed to be a singles match for the WWE Universal championship.

Though Rollins and Jericho will face-off in their own match, it doesn't necessarily mean that they will be through with one another, regardless of whether there is a decisive winner or not. In fact, in the event that Jericho comes away victorious and runs out of the ring, it would almost be a given that an irate Seth Rollins comes looking for him after the match.

A brawl could ensue backstage that eventually spills out to the ring during the Reigns and Owens championship match.

Even though neither man may have intended to be involved, that doesn't mean that they won't by the end of the match. It may seem silly to have a backstage brawl spill out to the ring, but if Jericho is trying to get away from Rollins the chase through the building could lead to the ring area.
