What's the story?
On this week's RAW, we saw the return of WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus, who interrupted a segment featuring Elias.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful.com revealed the reason why WWE chose to include Trish to the RAW show in her hometown of Toronto, Canada.
In case you didn't know...
Earlier this month, it was announced that Trish would wrestle at Evolution, WWE's first all-women's PPV, where she will face Alexa Bliss.
On RAW this week, she featured in Elias' segment after the guitar-wielding Superstar mocked Toronto, which Trish didn't take kindly to. When Elias told Trish that he "doesn't date women in their 60s", the former women's champion slapped him.
She also made an appearance in a segment featuring Ronda Rousey and Natalya when they were face to face with Alexa Bliss, Mickie James, and Alicia Fox.
The heart of the matter
As per the Fightful.com report, WWE included Trish, and Booker T for SmackDown, to generate interest and sales for next year's SummerSlam show which will be held in Toronto.
He said that Stratus' appearance was kept a secret, and said that many insiders knew that Elias was to get interrupted but didn't know by whom.
Meanwhile, on SmackDown Live, Booker T returned to WWE television, and was part of New Day's celebration after becoming 5-time WWE tag team champions, who was 5-time WCW Champion, welcoming them to the 'Five-Timers Club'.
The report says that Booker T's appearance was not kept a secret by the WWE and that many backstage knew that he would appear on SmackDown Live.
What's next?
The Evolution PPV will take place in New York on 28th October 2018. Meanwhile, there has been no indication regarding The New Day's next opponents for the SmackDown Live tag team championships.
