AJ Styles lost to The Undertaker in the first-ever Boneyard match at WrestleMania 36. The final images of the match saw AJ Styles being buried alive by The Deadman giving rise to speculation that Styles may be taking a sabbatical.

However, Dave Meltzer of The Observer has revealed that there are no plans to shelve AJ Styles anytime soon as the former WWE Champion is not injured.

AJ is probably selling it for a little while but AJ is way too valuable and not hurt. Like if AJ was going to get surgery, I could have seen like, 'Okay, AJ is getting surgery and this was the write-off.' That was not it. AJ is not injured. That was just the finish that they went with and now he's got to live through this somehow and be unburied alive. (H/T: Sportskeeda)

There had been speculation that AJ Styles may have to undergo shoulder surgery after WrestleMania, but it looks like that is not the case as of now.

There has also been some speculation that Styles may return with a new gimmick or character hinting at a rebirth of sorts.
