Baron Corbin is set to receive a huge push from the WWE

What's the story?

‘The Lone Wolf’ Baron Corbin is expected to defeat Dean Ambrose in their upcoming matchup at WrestleMania 33, for Ambrose’s WWE Intercontinental championship.

WWE are really impressed by Corbin’s character and see a lot of potential in the 6’8” athlete, owing to which they aim to push him to the top of the main-roster by the year-end.

Baron Corbin (real name Thomas Pestock) is a former football player and retired amateur boxer who announced his arrival on WWE’s main roster after winning the ‘Andre The Giant Memorial Battler Royal’ at WrestleMania 32.

He’s currently involved in a feud against ‘The Lunatic Fringe’ Dean Ambrose (real name Jonathan Good) who is the current WWE Intercontinental champion.

The heart of the matter:

WWE management are thoroughly impressed by Corbin’s in-ring skills and uber-heel persona, as evidenced by the huge push he received at last year’s Mania, entering and winning the aforementioned Battle Royal by eliminating Kane.

His current rivalry with Ambrose has involved several intense segments, with the most significant of them being his parking lot beat-down of the ex-Shield member.

Fans can expect The Lone Wolf to have an impressive showing on the grandest stage of them all, winning the Intercontinental belt off of Ambrose- a match that’ll propel him into stardom by the end of 2017.

What’s next?

Baron Corbin challenges Dean Ambrose for the WWE Intercontinental title at WrestleMania 33 on April 2nd at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

Author’s take:

Baron has a laundry list of legitimate athletic credentials including 3-Golden Glove championships, pro football experience and shoot-grappling experience, to name a few. He has all the makings of a high-level WWE Superstar and just needs the right push from the company that could propel him into Superstardom.

That’s not to undermine The Lunatic Fringe in any way, who has become a top singles competitor in the WWE after splitting up with his Shield brethren back in 2014. Ambrose vs Corbin promises to be the dark horse match of the event at Mania, with both Superstars looking to bring their A-game to the Show of Shows.

We can expect a cracker of a matchup with The Lone Wolf emerging victorious and the Intercontinental title strapped around his waist. WrestleMania 33, here we come!
