WWE Rumors: Battleground expected to be a filler PPV until SummerSlam

This will be the fourth event in Battleground chronology
  • A week from this Sunday, WWE Battleground pay-per-view will be taking place in the Verizon Center, Washington DC. This will be the first pay-per-view after the WWE Draft which will be telecast during SmackDown Live on July 19th . Though the match card features several championship bouts, it would be prudent for fans to not expect much from this upcoming pay-per-view.
  • As pointed out by cagesideseats.com, Battleground will be a lead-in for the biggest event of the summer, WWE SummerSlam. Due to the draft, WWE will be saving the major plans for August’s big pay-per-view.
  • Former WWE Champion Randy Orton will be appearing in Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel at Battleground. This segment will mark the first appearance of the Viper since October.
