What's the story?

We've all seen the NXT call-ups partake in cameos and/or matches in the main roster already, with one rather notable exception. This man is Lars Sullivan, a man who missed his WWE dates owing to a panic attack.

Rajah.com has revealed the original plans for Lars Sullivan's massive debut angle. He was supposed to injure John Cena in a non-arena segment and write him out of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

In case you didn't know...

Lars Sullivan was portrayed as one of the most dominant figures in NXT. It was also rumoured that he would get a massive push upon his call-up to the main roster.

His first feud, by all indications, would have been against John Cena. Unfortunately, Lars Sullivan missed the dates when he was supposed to show up because of anxiety issues.

This week, we learned that John Cena could potentially miss the Royal Rumble match owing to an injury he sustained during the main event match on RAW last week when Drew McIntyre hurt his leg.

The heart of the matter

So, the plan was always for John Cena to not participate in the Royal Rumble match. But instead of his injury being announced through WWE, the original plan was for Sullivan to write him off television in a non-arena segment.

Vince McMahon grew very upset when Lars Sullivan did not show up for his scheduled dates and cancelled the whole segment right away. The site goes on to speculate that the angle between the two men could still happen following the Royal Rumble, to lead to a WrestleMania 35 match. But from the looks of it, Drew McIntyre may get a shot at John Cena instead.

What's next?

Lars Sullivan's future remains in serious doubt even right now. One hopes that he can recover and compete at a later date. Let's hope that his push does not get affected.
