The WWE has a penchant for creating ripples outside the ring – be it the real life discord, substance abuse scandals or other such faux pas, the cameras seem to find their way back to WWE Superstars, one way or another.
But the most recent upheaval is of a pleasurably surprising nature. Former WWE Women’s Champion Paige and former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio were photographed arm-in-arm recently, buckling the knees of the IWC and taking the internet by storm.
Wrestling fans get rare glimpses of their favorites when the spotlight goes off and feel downright wronged if they aren’t caught unawares by some development or the other. Broken hearts and the age difference aside (15 years – Paige is 23, Alberto is 38), the match seems natural from the perspective of their backgrounds.
Both of them come from respected wrestling families and are no strangers to the life. Paige’s family runs a wrestling promotion in England and both her brothers are wrestlers. She has dated Emarosa frontman Bradley Walden and A Day To Remember guitarist Kevin Skaff.
Del Rio’s family is one of the most renowned in Mexican wrestling, with his father and uncle veritable Lucha Libre legends. It’s very common for wrestlers to find love in their own circles, evidenced by the number of wrestling couples there have been over the years. This is where we run into a bit of a bog – it is reported that Del Rio is married with three children.
