WWE Rumours: House of Horrors Match to be Pre-Taped
Will this make the match better or worse?
What’s the Story?
Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt are scheduled to face each other this Sunday at WWE’s latest PPV, Payback, in a House of Horrors match.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter believes that portions of the match will be pre-taped while other parts will take place in real time.
In Case You Didn’t Know
The most recent example of pre-taped and live segments coinciding would be when Orton betrayed Bray and burnt down the Wyatt Family compound and Sister Abigail’s corpse.
The idea for this match dates back to the Attitude Era according to Edge and Christian. On an episode of the Edge and Christian’s Pod of Awesomeness, the WWE veterans claimed that WWE official Michael P.S. Hayes pitched the idea for the match back when Edge, Christian, and Gangrel were known as the stable The Brood.
The Heart of the Matter
There’s been little to no explanation given as to what this type of match will entail. The match could be a pinfall/submission only match, a Falls Count Anywhere variation, or any other combination of matches that the WWE has at their disposal.
The match will most definitely begin as a taped fight in a Haunted House type set/location and will probably end up in the ring, thus being partially taped and partially live as Dave Meltzer mentioned.
Many fans are predicting that it will be similar to the pre-taped segment with The Wyatt Family and The New Day when the two factions battled at the Wyatt Family Compound.
This will likely be the last time Bray and Orton fight until the next draft or inter-brand pay-per-view. Orton is set to feud with Jinder Mahal, the No.1 Contender for the WWE World title in the nearest future if he retains the title which most critics and even we think is what is going to happen.
Tune in to Payback this Sunday to see the match unfold and find out what will become of The Eater of Worlds when he meets the Apex Predator again.
Orton and Bray have faced each other twice in pay-per-view matches and neither of those encounters demonstrated any chemistry between the two men. Both of their previous matches have been average at best, so perhaps the smoke and mirrors of a pre-taped match coupled with the inclusion of parts of the match being live could make the match more interesting.
As far as winners go, Bray should win the match to get back some of the momentum he lost at WrestleMania. Despite this belief, Orton will probably win the match and build momentum as he heads into his encounter with Jinder Mahal at Backlash.
