WWE, Alberto Del Rio and Paige haven’t been on the same page since the duo started dating earlier this year. Last month the duo were suspended one immediately after the other for the violation of WWE’s Wellness Policy, which forbids them from participating in WWE related activities for one month.
In the latest instalment of Wrestling Observer Radio’s podcast, Dave Meltzer has said that it is highly likely that Paige will follow her boyfriend’s path and cut all ties with the company. Here is what Meltzer said: “I would say things are looking really negative right now about her returning.
“Paige claims that Mark Ronald told her that if she doesn’t break up with Alberto Del Rio, she will be fired. When I first heard it, it was one of those things which i thought they have got to be smart enough to not say things like that. I can't imagine someone in power saying that.
“They broke them up in the drafts (Paige was drafted to Raw, while Del Rio was drafted to SmackDown Live!), and that was absolutely a message. It had plausible deniability, that you can do, but you cannot just go to someone and say ‘if you don’t break up with your boyfriend, you are getting fired’. But the fact that the story is out, tells me she is probably done with the company. If she is done, they are probably trying to manoeuvre so that she can be released and can work elsewhere.”
It is being reported that Alberto Del Rio has left WWE, using a clause in his contract that enables him to leave the company before his deal, which is until October, comes to an end. However, no such clause is there in Paige’s contract and it remains to be seen what exactly is next in store for the Diva.
Del Rio on his part could return to Lucha Underground, should the company be able to afford him, bringing an end to a dismal second stint with WWE.
