Following the WWE’s tweet about Indian prospect Dinesh Kumar’s feats of athleticism at the promotion’s Dubai tryouts, news has broken about yet another young prospect from the country who may be set to step foot in the WWE ring.

In an interview with Indian news outlet Loksatta, Maharashtrian wrestling prospect Rahul Bodke has revealed his plans to represent India in the WWE.

In case you didn’t know...

Rahul Bodke has been a champion of ‘Maharashtra Kesari Kushti’ in 2014, a wrestling tournament that has been conducted in the Indian state of Maharashtra since 1961, besides winning a wrestling championship in Karnataka as well as the ‘Hind Kesari’ championship.

The heart of the matter:

Bodke revealed that both his grandfather and father were wrestlers. He added that his father, who is a cab driver by profession, had to give up wrestling in order to drive a taxi in order to make ends meet. Here are a few excerpts from his statements-

“I am hoping to become a WWE wrestler very soon, and plan on making my state and nation proud. I want to fulfil the dream my father once saw for himself.”

Bodke added:

"As a child I would love to wrestle in the mud. As I grew up I knew I was made for this, but had to do odd jobs to support the family. However, now that I know this is my calling, I want to pursue this and make everyone proud."

The Indian wrestler who hails from Nashik, Maharashtra is all set to compete at the WWE tryouts in Dubai.
