The Alberto Del Rio and Paige saga took another turn today as it was revealed on this week’s episode of the MSL & Sullivan show, hosted by former WCW booker Kevin Sullivan and former Ring of Honor commentator Mister Saint Laurent, that WWE have recently threatened Paige’s job if she didn’t end her relationship with the veteran Mexican grappler. Fans had already been s[eculating that WWE didn’t approve of Del Rio’s relationship with the much younger Paige for weeks since they were drafted to different shows during the WWE Draft. Here is an excerpt from the show:
“Mark Carrano, who fans might know from Total Divas, kind of like the office liaison guy, approached Del Rio and Paige individually and harassed each of them about their relationship. It was indicated that the office wanted them to sever their romantic relationship.”
Mister Saint Laurent also went on to say that WWE had threated to fire Paige if she didn’t end her relationship with Alberto Del Rio:
“A lot of people speculated if this was the reason WWE split them up in the draft and that’s definitely what happened. The company did not want them together. They split them up in the draft by design and they threatened to fire Paige if she didn’t break up with Del Rio.”
Triple H, who is the Executive Vice President of Talent, is reportedly not a fan of Del Rio and see’s him as a bad influence on Paige and considers him as a factor in Paige being led astray and not focusing on her career. Triple H is also the one who reportedly killed the massive push that Del Rio was supposed to get when he re-signed with the WWE last year. Although Del Rio won the US Championship after defeating John Cena clean on his first night, it was all downhill from there.
Things are not looking good for Del Rio right now with rumours of him quitting WWE for a second time later this year persisting. This is probably the last run the 39-year-old Mexican will get in the WWE and it has been underwhelming, to say the least. Del RIo is also going through a bitter divorce right now and has been accused of adultery by his soon-to-be ex-wife. It’s sad that Del Rio and Paige’s relationship may have come to this because it’s clear from Paige’s social media updates that she is in love with Alberto.
