Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar: 5 possible ways the fight could end at WWE Survivor Series 2016

Could Shane spoil the plans of Lensar?

It's no real surprise that a major portion of the hype surrounding Survivor Series is because of Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar. The pay-per-view will mark Goldberg’s return to the WWE ring after more than a decade and a bout against someone like Brock Lesnar simply raises the benchmark.

The last time these two squared off in WWE, it turned out to be a forgettable experience for everyone involved. This fact still lingers in the minds of every WWE fan out there and thanks to this, there is a sense of concern about this match as well.

Although fans have their doubts on if the match will deliver, the creative team of WWE has bigger headaches. This is an incredibly hard match to book due to the hype surrounding it and no matter what the result is; there could be fan backlash.

Then again, the match has to finish in one way or the other and on this list; we are going to take a look at some of the possible endings for this showdown.

#5 Shane McMahon helps out Goldberg

Shane could be the surprise package

At SummerSlam, Lesnar brutally destroyed Orton, and in the post-match segment, he took out Shane McMahon as well. Shane came out to the aid of his SmackDown Superstar, but in the end, he turned out to be on the receiving side of the beast. This kicked off rumours about a potential match between Shane and Lesnar.

Rumours suggested that these two would face off at Royal Rumble and if this is indeed the case: then Survivor Series would be a great buildup. Shane could come out and distract Lesnar. This, in turn, would help Goldberg to get a win.

The good thing about such a finish is that Lesnar remains strong and Goldberg gets his win. WWE also sows the seeds for Shane vs. Lesnar; A win – win situation for everyone.

#4 New faction for Goldberg

Keeping him on the roster would be a good thing for the ratings

The television ratings for Raw are currently experiencing a low tide. But the ratings did spike when Goldberg appeared on the show. This shows Goldberg’s mainstream appeal and the fact that, the older fans of WWE will tune in if someone relevant from the past is on television.

Goldberg is someone that could fill in this void. He might not be able to wrestle every week, but what WWE could do is make Goldberg the leader of a faction on Raw.

How do they introduce this faction? Just let them come out and help Goldberg get the win over Lesnar at Survivor Series. WWE has plenty of talented superstars that could rally behind Goldberg, and if they want, they can bring in some NXT superstars as well.

#3 Goldberg ends Lesnar’s run

Putting an end to Lesnar is a responsible job

Ever since Brock Lesnar ended the Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak, he has been booked strongly. Lesnar destroyed numerous superstars after that, and he is yet to take a clean fall. This has turned into a streak of its own, and everyone is eager to know who would end this run.

Enter Goldberg. Just like ending Undertaker’s streak, putting an end to Lesnar’s run is something that comes with headaches. If WWE lets a young superstar do it, then the pressure of the expectation could be enough to ruin his career before it begins.

On the other hand, Goldberg has enough experience to take up the responsibility. He has the resume to achieve this, and he does not have a career to look ahead to as well; making him a perfect candidate to end Lesnar’s dominating run.

#2 Paul Heyman turns

WWE needs a new Paul Heyman guy

A good portion of Brock Lesnar’s drawing power is because of Paul Heyman. Heyman is directly responsible for Lesnar’s rise in the WWE, but that doesn’t mean they should always be together. In fact, Heyman has turned against Lesnar in the past as well. And with WWE desperate to make new superstars, a new ‘Paul Heyman Guy’ could be what they want.

Heyman turning on Lesnar and introducing his new ‘Guy’ in between the Survivor Series match, would clearly break the internet. Though such a distraction would tilt the match in Goldberg’s favour, Lesnar will be protected, and at the same time, WWE has a new storyline in their hand.

As far as Paul Heyman’s new guy is concerned, it is a good topic for another debate. Shinsuke Nakamura, anyone?

#1 Lesnar’s destruction continues

The ultimate heel

This is perhaps the best possible ending from the lot. It might rub the Goldberg fans the wrong way, but in the long run, it cements Brock Lesnar’s run as the top heel in WWE. One thing that we noticed about the return of Goldberg was the new found passion in him.

He wanted to wrestle one more match in the WWE so that his wife and son could witness him in action. This was an ultimate babyface move from Goldberg, and this is why one of the reasons the fans now cheer him.

If Lesnar comes in and defeats Goldberg in front of his family, what does that make Lesnar? A legitimate heel that dashed the hopes of a man who wanted to be a role model for his son; this, people, is why a Lesnar heel turn would make a lot of sense.
