The Shield invaded Survivor Series for the first time back in 2012
Whilst this is definitely the first time that the NXT roster has been on the card for one of the company's biggest events of the year, this isn't the first time that the developmental brand has felt the need to send a message to the main roster.

Back in 2012 one of the biggest debuts in the history of the company took place when NXT stars Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns made their way to the ring and attacked Ryback when he was in a Championship match against CM Punk.
At the time it looked as though NXT was invading WWE, but it was later revealed that teh three stars had been moved up to the main roster following this debut. The Shield still returned to the developmental brand a few times after they were promoted since Seth Rollins was still NXT Champion at the time.

The group later went on to become one of WWE's most dominant stables, but have since disbanded. This year will be very different since NXT has actually been invited to the party.
