WWE Survivor Series 2019: 5 Things to expect tonight – Total decimation of former Champion, Brutal match between Brock Lesnar & Rey Mysterio (24/11/2019)

Who will prevail at Survivor Series?
Who will prevail at Survivor Series?

When WWE announced that this year’s Survivor Series would include NXT, fans were rightfully happy and hopeful. After all, they would now get to see some dream match-ups ahead of time while NXT would also get exposure at an unprecedented level.

On the SmackDown post-Crown Jewel, most of the roster weren’t able to make it to the show due to their flight getting delayed in Saudi Arabia. WWE turned this curse into a blessing as NXT stars invaded the show to kickstart the invasion angle for Survivor Series.

The invasion continued as the company kept building hype for Survivor Series. And now, with only a few hours left for the PPV to begin, we will be bestowed with some matches that have the potential to steal the show.

With that in mind, here are the 5 things to expect from Survivor Series 2019…

#5 NXT to impress but will also take the fall

In the last episode of SmackDown, NXT made their presence felt and ended up as the clear winner among the three brands. The Undisputed Era beat The New Day and Heavy Machinery while Rhea Ripley got a win against Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair in a Triple Threat match.

So, if momentum is to be taken into account, then NXT are the favorites to come out on top in this year’s Survivor Series. However, looking at the trend with WWE’s booking in the past, it would not be wrong to assume that NXT might not finish the PPV as winners.

Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean that they won’t win a single match (more on that later) but we could expect them to lose the majority of the bouts.

Survivor Series presents a chance to showcase NXT on a grander scale and making them look strong will go a long way in helping the ratings of their weekly-show on Wednesday.

As a result, we could expect NXT stars to lose most of their matches but it won’t be without giving a tough fight and looking strong in the process.

#4 SmackDown will not be treated poorly

If you remember what happened in last year’s Survivor Series, you will be aware of the fact that SmackDown were completely humiliated as they failed to win even a single match on the main card.

The only win the Blue brand achieved was in the kick-off show as the company made it known that RAW was the main brand while SmackDown was the B show.

However, this year, a repeat of last year won’t take place simply because the Blue brand is no longer a second-fiddle show. SmackDown moving to FOX has almost guaranteed that the company will have to make them look stronger this year, which could only happen if SmackDown prevailed in at least a few of their inter-promotional matches.

#3 Rhea Ripley to get a major push

While Adam Cole might just have had the best few weeks among the NXT Superstars, Rhea Ripley might just end up outshining the NXT Champion. On SmackDown last week, she won her Triple Threat match against Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair.

To make things even better, her team beat Team Baszler at NXT TakeOver: WarGames last night when she pinned the NXT Women’s Champion to get the win. Safe to say, she is being pushed and it wouldn’t be shocking if she leads NXT Women’s team to a win against RAW and SmackDown Women’s teams.

In fact, I fully expect her to pick up the win for the Black and Gold brand, which might also be the only victory NXT picks up in the PPV.

#2 Total decimation of Daniel Bryan

'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt is set to take on Daniel Bryan in his first title defense. The Eater of the Worlds won the WWE Universal Championship from Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in a match that elevated his character’s superhuman feel even further.

In the whole process of winning the Universal Championship from Hell in a Cell to Crown Jewel, Bray Wyatt no-sold the Stomp countless times, survived chair-shots and a hammer blow to the head and, finally, rose up to his feet after getting electrocuted.

After all of that, it is impossible to think that Daniel Bryan will be able to take the title off Bray Wyatt. Now that Wyatt has the Champion's advantage, the only way Bryan can win is by either pinning him or making The Fiend submit – and that is simply not believable at this point.

As a result, the only outcome that we could expect from this match is Daniel Bryan being punished by The Fiend for turning against the Wyatt Family all those years ago.

The Fiend never forgets and, as a result, he will decimate Daniel Bryan and retain his Championship.

#1 A brutal match between Brock Lesnar and Rey Mysterio

The feud between Brock Lesnar and Rey Mysterio has been going on for a while now. Even before Lesnar laid his hands on the WWE Championship, the seeds for this rivalry were sown when Brock Lesnar destroyed Dominik Mysterio in front of his father Rey.

The Master of the 619 brought Cain Velasquez to take revenge against The Beast Incarnate but the former UFC Champion tapped out to the WWE Champion at Crown Jewel.

Mysterio kept the feud alive when he pounded Lesnar with chair shots following the match and now, both these men will have a go at each other with the WWE Championship on the line.

The key thing to note here is that the match is set to be a No Holds Barred encounter, which is the perfect and the most legitimate way to make Mysterio look strong against Lesnar. As a result, we could expect Rey Mysterio to put up a great fight against The Beast and use outside tools to bring him down.

In the end, however, Lesnar will almost certainly pick up the win to continue his reign as the WWE Champion.
