WWE Top 5 Rumors of the week: 11th March, 2017

Will Bryan wrestle in some other promotion?

We are another week closer to WrestleMania 33 and the shift of gears in WWE’s creative direction was visible from this week’s SmackDown and Monday Night Raw. The way in which WWE are booking the storylines has changed significantly and this has, in turn, fueled the rumour mill as well.

Plans that the WWE had for Goldberg and Brock Lesnar featured heavily on the internet. Goldberg became the new WWE Universal champion after defeating Kevin Owens at Fastlane 2017 and the title adds more stakes to the showdown scheduled for WrestleMania.

The outcome of the Roman Reigns vs. Undertaker feud was another controversial topic that was discussed.

In this list, we will be taking a look at the top 5 rumours of this week and their implications.

#5 Expect another short match

Another disaster?

Goldberg and Brock Lesnar had a confrontation this Monday Night and it did not end well for Goldberg.

Now that Goldberg is the reigning Universal champion, the match between Goldberg and Lesnar is expected to close the show. But according to CageSideSeats, the match could be a short one just like the last outing that these two had.

A five to seven minutes match could be on the card between these two. Keeping the WrestleMania main event standards in consideration, this would be a major step down. The last thing WWE would want is to end WrestleMania with jeers as the card has so much potential to deliver and make the fans pop.

#4 Reigns to defeat Undertaker

A career defining match awaits

A major twist that happened this past week was the showdown that Undertaker and Roman Reigns had.

Undertaker made his intentions clear when he looked at the WrestleMania sign and it is these subtle yet powerful signs that make the feuds involving The Undertaker stand out. The next obvious question that everyone would have is: Who will win the match?

The rumours on CageSideSeats suggest that Roman Reigns is the favourite to walk out as the winner. However, WWE do not have any plans to turn Reigns heel at this moment and if we read into all the speculation, it is guaranteed chaos for the career of Reigns, in a nutshell.

#3 Hardys to return to old gimmicks?

No more ‘Broken’?

The rumours about Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy making their returns to WWE are strengthening as each week passes by.

The brothers were reportedly spotted in Pittsburgh and it fueled speculations about the whole scenario. Hardys bringing in the ‘Broken’ characters is what excites the fans most about their potential return, but there is some bad news.

According to CageSideSeats, Matt Hardy has apparently filed for a trademark on the ‘Broken’ character which means that they might have to use their old gimmicks if they come to WWE.

Considering how good the ‘Broken’ character has been and it was Matt Hardy’s own creation, it wouldn’t be a big surprise if the Hardys come up with something entirely different and new for themselves when they return.

#2 Good news for Impact Wrestling

Pulling strings

The tides are turning for Impact Wrestling. They are now making it to the headlines for the good reasons and they might be set for a return to Spike Television.

Earlier, the rumours had suggested that since Jeff Jarrett was back on board with the promotion, it was Jarrett who was pulling the strings to bring Impact back on Spike.

The Spike TV officials. however, have denied any such talks having happened. But in the wrestling business, such denials are often used to make the news a big one when it finally breaks.

If Jarrett does manage to pull it off, Impact wrestling would have much more momentum and it would be easier for them to compete with the other promotions.

#1 Daniel Bryan to leave WWE

Ready to leave?

Daniel Bryan could leave WWE after his contract expires if we go by the rumours on CageSideSeats.

The complicated medical situation of Bryan has forced WWE to keep him away from in-ring competition. The rumours suggest that Bryan might leave the WWE due to WWE’s medical policies and return to in-ring action elsewhere, his possible options have been rumoured as NJPW and CMLL.

The fact that Bryan wants to wrestle is not a secret and it would be understandable if he leaves the WWE and performs somewhere else.

If this exit does happen, WWE will have to find a new general manager for SmackDown and at the same time, the shows Total Divas and Total Bellas would take a hit.
