WWE Top Rumors of the Week and Analysis: 10 July, 2016

Going to remain polarizing

Brock Lesnar’s return to the octagon was the major talking point this past week. Brock silenced all his critics by defeating a top 10 Heavyweight convincingly and that too, after a five-year hiatus. More importantly, he underlined that his next step is to face Randy Orton at SummerSlam, once again, shining the limelight on WWE’s next big event.

While Brock’s success did make everyone happy, the internet also had other things to buzz about. This included the potential result of Brock vs. Orton at SummerSlam, the future of TNA and much more. So here are the top rumors of this week and their analysis.

TNA looking to make huge strides

Huge strides for future?

The huge success of Final deletion has put TNA in the spotlight once again. The concept that they pulled off did get everyone talking and the fans either hated it or loved it to the core. WWE might be looking to counter the Final Deletion trend with a ‘compound’ match between the Wyatt family and New Day according to the rumors.

Elsewhere, TNA is also planning a few surprises for the coming weeks and might also sign up Moose, who was earlier attracting attention from WWE. TNA has offered Moose a great contract from the looks of it, and the deal is expected to get wrapped up in a few weeks.

Randy Orton expected to lose at SummerSlam

Lesnar could go on and win at SummerSlam

WWE announced that Randy Orton will be facing Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam days before UFC 200. This was apparently done to advertise the Orton vs. Lesnar showdown during SummerSlam and things did go down as WWE planned. Another rumor had suggested that WWE was waiting for the result of Mark Hunt vs. Lesnar to decide the opponent for Lesnar, but this ended up being just a rumor.

Now that Orton is announced as the opponent, Lesnar is expected to go out and win at SummerSlam as well. From the talk going around, Orton will not be the person to end Lesnar’s run in WWE and with his latest win over Hunt, Lesnar’s value has skyrocketed.

Title programs for Battleground

Tag team champions soon?

New Day and Wyatt Family are expected to lock horns for the tag team championships at Battleground. While this might sound like a natural decision with the current storyline, not many would imagine that Wyatt Family will walk out as champions from the pay-per-view. This is apparently the plan that WWE has at this moment. Wyatts getting the tag team titles will be a bold move from WWE and is expected to shift the landscape of the company.

Also, Zack Ryder is expected to get a shot at the United States Championship at the show. He will likely be injected into a program with Rusev soon.

Heat on Apollo Crews

Bad times

Apollo Crews, who was called up to the main roster quickly compared to his companions in NXT, is currently having a lot of heat on him. Apollo, after a good debut, was not getting solid programs that he needed to take his character forward and he started attracting heat for botching spots here and there. And recently, fans are starting to dig up his old tweets where he had bashed some of his fellow WWE superstars.

Apollo has reportedly lost his verified status on Twitter due to the same and has attracted more heat within the company. This is expected to keep back Apollo from progressing further in the main roster.

Character changes for Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins

Heel turn is not a possibility

Everyone is calling for a heel turn from Roman Reigns after his real life suspension due to a wellness policy violation. However, WWE has no plans of turning Reigns heel at this moment and they see him as a polarizing character. This is what he will remain as in the long run which means that a heel turn is not coming anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Vince McMahon is planning to push Seth Rollins as the top heel in the roster. Vince feels that Seth could go on to become one of the best heels in WWE history and this is perhaps the reason why Rollins was not turned baby face when WWE had a chance to do it.
