WWE WrestleMania 33 Matches: Prediction and analysis

WrestleMania 33 is stacked with big names.

We are well and truly on the road to WrestleMania 33. After the less than stellar WWE Fastlane 2017 Pay Per View, the majority of WrestleMania 33 matches were confirmed on the recently concluded episodes of Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live.

Today, we take a look at and analyse all the expected matches for this year’s WrestleMania as well as get in some early predictions on what we expect to see on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

So, without further ado, here are the expected matches:

That’s the information we have to go on right now, so let’s dive right into our early predictions for WrestleMania 33:

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Strowman is expected to make a statement at the Battle Royal.

The now traditional Battle Royal for the Andre the Giant Memorial trophy is one that doesn’t really hold too much importance. We have some top, top stars such as Mojo Rawley and Apollo Crews throwing their hats into the ring.

The expected winner this year is Braun Strowman with The Monster Among Men rumoured to be in the match since he doesn’t have any high-calibre opponents to work with.

Prediction: Braun Strowman.

Smackdown Live Women’s Championship Battle Royal

The most likely match to accommodate Daniel Bryan’s announcement that Alexa Bliss will be defending her title against “all the available women superstars” on Smackdown is a Battle Royal and it would make sense to test the waters for a potential all-women Royal Rumble in the future with an appearance on the preshow.

The potential winner for this match is difficult to predict but it should boil down to Alexa Bliss, Mickey James, Becky Lynch, and Natalia. I’m going to go ahead and put my money on Natalia coming out of this one with the Smackdown Women’s Championship.

Prediction: Natalia wins to become the new Smackdown Live Women’s Champion.

Dean Ambrose (c) vs Baron Corbin (Intercontinental Championship Match)

Ambrose vs Corbin is a sleeper.

Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin have been at each other’s throats ever since The Lunatic Fringe eliminated The Lone Wolf at the Elimination Chamber. Corbin retaliated by laying out Ambrose and allowing The Miz to eliminate the Intercontinental Champion and the two have had run-ins on Smackdown every week since.

There might be some sort of gimmick to this match at WrestleMania 33, but regardless I fully expect Baron Corbin to pick up the victory here as the WWE have been steadily pushing the talented youngster. The Intercontinental title is the next logical step in his progression to the top.

Prediction: Baron Corbin wins to become the new Intercontinental Champion.

John Cena and Nikki Bella vs The Miz and Maryse (Intergender Tag Team Match)

Everyone knows how this one will end

This is an easy one to predict. John Cena and Nikki Bella have been on the receiving end of a lot of abuse recently and it’s all to build up their eventual victory over The Miz and Maryse at WrestleMania 33.

Perhaps the biggest part of this match will be after the finishing bell where Cena is expected to finally propose to his long-term girlfriend.

Prediction: John Cena and Nikki Bella win.

Chris Jericho (c) vs Kevin Owens (US Championship Match)

Owens and Jericho will be expected to tear it down, going into Orlando

The grudge match for Wrestlemania 33 involves former best friends turned bitter rivals, Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens after KO turned on Y2J at the Festival of Friendship segment followed by Jericho costing Owens his Universal Title against Goldberg.

I’m expecting KO to pick up the victory on this as he needs to bounce back strong from his loss to Goldberg and Jericho himself is expected to take a break from wrestling to on tour with his band, Fozzy.

Prediction: Kevin Owens wins to become the new US Champion.

Bayley vs Charlotte Flair vs Sasha Banks (Raw Women’s Championship Match)

Will Sasha finally turn?

This match got set up this past episode of Raw when Sasha Banks beat Bayley to earn her spot in this match at Wrestlemania 33. This should be a really good Triple Threat match between the three most gifted female superstars from Raw.

Regardless of the result, Sasha Banks should be turning heel either before Wrestlemania, during their match or right after. Either way, I predict Bayley to walk out of here with her championship and feud with a heel Sasha.

Prediction: Bayley wins to retain.

AJ Styles vs Shane McMahon

Expect some pyrotechnics from Shane.

The match that no one wants to see will pit AJ Styles against Smackdown Live Commissioner, Shane McMahon. Everyone knows that Styles deserves a better opponent at Wrestlemania 33 but with a dearth of good options, this is what we're left with.

I expect The Phenomenal One will pick up the victory over Shane after McMahon does yet another death-defying spot.

Prediction: AJ Styles wins.

Triple H vs Seth Rollins

Rollins must win...

This match should happen despite Seth Rollins’ unfortunately timed injury which threatened to keep him out of Wrestlemania for the second year in a row. If all goes well, he should face up against Triple H in a feud that has been building for months.

Rollins should pick up the victory here in order to propel on to bigger and better things with a huge clean victory over The Game on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Prediction: Seth Rollins wins.

The Undertaker vs Roman Reigns

Is it finally time?

Roman Reigns takes on The Undertaker in a match that might well be The Deadman's final outing in a WWE ring. If the WWE are smart about this, they will use this once in a lifetime opportunity to turn Roman Reigns heel and utilise him to his full potential.

The Undertaker is an old school wrestler who will definitely want to put over a younger talent in his final match and that lucky younger talent is going to be Roman Reigns. It's sad that the WWE are going to feed yet another undeserved victory the way of Reigns but that's the world we live in.

Prediction: Roman Reigns wins.

Bray Wyatt (c) vs Randy Orton (WWE Championship Match)

Orton and Wyatt have told a captivating story

The Wyatt family implosion finally took place and now we get to see the much-anticipated clash between Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton. The Viper's carefully laid plans finally came to fruition as he burned down the Wyatt family home and Bray will be looking for some sweet, sweet revenge.

Bray Wyatt simply has to win this encounter in order to ensure his WWE Title reign feels legit and he doesn't slide back into obscurity. Bad booking has cost Bray the spotlight before it would be tragic if he doesn't walk out of Wrestlemania 33 with the title.

Prediction: Bray Wyatt wins to retain.

Goldberg (c) vs Brock Lesnar (WWE Universal Championship Match)

Box office......

Finally, we get to the third and hopefully final round between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. There is little doubt as to where this one goes as Lesnar should pick up the win and the Universal Title while sending Goldberg off into retirement for good this time.

It remains to be seen what the WWE will do with Lesnar as a part-time champion and hopefully, we will see the title back into the hands of a hardworking full-time wrestler soon after Wrestlemania 33.

Prediction: Brock Lesnar wins to become the new WWE Universal Champion.
