Pros and Cons of Triple Threat main event at WrestleMania 31

All the grumpy Daniel Bryan fans out there got some good news when the rumor broke out about a possible Triple Threat main event at WrestleMania 31. Vince McMahon and his stooges in the creative team were feeling the pressure of fans after Royal Rumble and apparently, Vince gave in on the situation. As things stand now, we will get to see Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania and it is indeed a big risk from the company. However, the options are limited as well for the booking team since the fans are breathing down their throat. Just like everything out there, this decision has its own pros and cons and here is a rundown on that list.

#6 Pro: Burden away from Roman Reigns

There is a reason why Brock Lesnar was chosen to end the streak rather than any other youngster. The burden of being the one who ended the legendary streak was beyond the carrying capacity of most youngsters out there but a seasoned professional like Lesnar had the courage to take up responsibility.

Roman Reigns was heading into a similar situation when he won the Royal Rumble. He looked destined to be the man who slayed the Beast, but now with the introduction of Daniel Bryan, the pressure has eased.

He will be in the match but all eyes will not be on Reigns. He has two great superstars to share the match with and that lets Reigns learn and know what needs to be done and when.

#5 Con: The Repetition

Anyone remember the top angle heading into last year’s WrestleMania? Yes, it was Bryan’s struggle to headline WrestleMania and win the WWE championship. This year is no different.

Roman Reigns won the Royal Rumble this year but instead of getting the one on one shot that he deserves with the champion, he now has to deal with a flying goat. Batista had a similar faith last time around and we all know how that ended up.

For the second time in a row, WWE will be using similar tactics to draw the crowds. And it would not be a surprise if anyone gets bored in between the buildup and decides to skip the pay-per-view.

#4 Pro: New paths open up

The best part about Triple Threat matches is the possible angles that could sprout out from it. If booked, the WrestleMania main event is going to be no different.

There are a lot of permutations that the company could try with these three men. They could turn Reigns heel or turn Lesnar face at some point so that the angle would not look stale for the fans.

Also, Bryan winning the championship for the second time in a row will be another underdog story. Names like Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman are outside factors that could play a bigger role making the field wider.

#3 Con: Roman Reigns loses his moment

The whole idea of Roman Reigns winning the Royal Rumble was to provide him with a platform to shine. WWE wanted to build Reigns as the next John Cena and getting a win over Brock Lesnar was supposed to be one of the catalysts.

However, now that Bryan is introduced into the title picture, instead of the limelight being concentrated on Reigns, it will be shared by another babyface.

The Triple threat will not deliver the required result for Reigns as he will be just another superstar among the three men. WrestleMania 31 is not going to be the night of Roman Reigns and WWE’s botched booking is to be blamed for the same.

#2 Pro: The Fans are Happy

So the fans are getting what they want. They wanted Daniel Bryan to headline WrestleMania and if the rumors are right, it is exactly what is going to happen. The WWE Universe unleashed hell after Roman Reigns on the rumble at Philadelphia and the cancel WWE Network trended across the social media.

It was an all-out war between the company and the fans. Finally, Vince McMahon gave in and will probably give what the fans want.

They will be having no complaints about the match card being booked in WrestleMania as far as Bryan headlines it and since Reigns is in it as well, the company also should be happy. It is a win – win situation for both parties.

#1 Con: The paradox

Following up from the mentioned win – win situation, it is actually a paradox. The fans want Bryan to be in the main event and they are going to get it. However, what if Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar wins?

Both superstars will be jeered by the crowd since Bryan didn’t win, which leaves the company with the only option of letting Bryan win the match. So what if Bryan wins the match?

Well, the same fans will conclude that WrestleMania had a predictable ending. The modern era fans are hard to satisfy, but the truth is, they will be coming back for more no matter what the company serves them. So what WWE needs to do is, put out a solid product and ignore everything that comes along.
