Extreme Rules 2015: 5 Possible Feuds for John Cena after the pay-per-view

WrestleMania 31 was nothing more than a typical WrestleMania outing for John Cena. He faced off against Rusev for the United States Championship and came out winning in what proved to be a predictive ending. The Cenation leader now has some midcard gold around his waist and the next headache for WWE would be to feed him some credible opponents. The fans will obviously have a lot of doubts about what WWE is planning with Cena in the mid card scenario and whatever angle Cena gets involved into next will be responsible for giving the answers. There are a handful of possibilities that the company could make use of once Cena wraps us his feud with Rusev and here is a look at the most exciting ones.

#5 Dolph Ziggler

Ziggler has been one of those superstars who held the midcard together before it saw the entrance of Daniel Bryan and John Cena. He was known for giving out solid matches on a consistent basis and at the same time was shuttled to and fro between the Intercontinental championship and United States Championship.

The showoff has already had his go at Bryan’s championship on a couple of occasions and it would only be fitting to give him a shot at Cena in the coming weeks.

Ziggler and Cena have had some matches in the past and will have no trouble when it comes to putting together a match. Even if Ziggler won’t have a happy ending, he will make Cena look like gold which is what WWE needs at the moment.

#4 Sheamus

Sheamus might have a weird looking hair style but he is still the same man in between the ropes and most importantly, he is a heel now. Sheamus was the United States Champion before Rusev won it which also makes the Celtic Warrior eligible for the title shot against Cena.

Now, at the moment, the fans clearly hate Sheamus.

They are not impressed with his new hairstyle and they are certainly not impressed with his new attitude. Cena needs an opponent like this so that the fans don’t jeer him during the feud. It is a perfect scenario on paper and if WWE pulls it off correctly, it could be a solid angle.

#3 Dean Ambrose

There isn’t any scarcity of chemistry between Dean Ambrose and John Cena. This fact was proven on various occasions in the past and the latest addition to that list came at this week’s Raw.

Cena and Ambrose had a solid match at the weekly flagship show and even though WWE’s announcement of Rusev vs. Cena for Extreme Rules takes Ambrose out of the picture for now, he could be bought back in the near future.

Ambrose is still the longest reigning United States Champion in the history of WWE so he does have a case in his hand if he wants to challenge Cena. The microphone work will also be top notch and fans will have no trouble feeding in on the Hero vs. Anti – hero angle.

#2 Daniel Bryan

The rumors about WWE unifying the Intercontinental Championship and the United States Championship have been relevant in the internet for ages. The company had many opportunities to pull off the same but the best one arrived at WrestleMania.

John Cena was crowned the new United States Champion and Daniel Bryan was crowned the Intercontinental Champion at the pay-per-view, which in turn opened the door for a big match. The fans would love to see a battle between the two on a pay-per-view level since they have only had one outing before.

It could be the only way in which WWE could take away the championship from Cena safely as any other option would either make Cena weak (which Vince doesn’t want) or bury the challenger.

#1 The Undertaker

From winning the WWE Championship to headlining WrestleMania, Cena has achieved almost everything in his wrestling career. But one thing that Cena is still yet to grab is a match against Undertaker at WrestleMania.

Cena was one of the frontrunners to end the Streak when it was still alive but now that WWE doesn’t have a streak to sell the feud, they could just cash in on the drawing power of both these superstars. No one would hesitate in buying tickets for a Taker vs. Cena WrestleMania showdown and it might be a bit early to start the buildup, but a match of this importance deserves it.

Cena could move on to some filler feuds once the match is setup since Taker would not be available every now and then.

An unexpected name just challenged Randy Orton RIGHT HERE.
