WWE Monday Night Raw: 1 September, 2014 - Superstar Ratings

Heath Slater is a superstar who got wins over Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler last month. And this week a bunny took him out, that should pretty much round up how WWE delivered their latest edition of Monday Night Raw.There were nothing to be happy about Raw as the show was well below par. Apart from the six man main event tag team match, the in ring action failed to impress while most of the segments barely made any sense.Brock Lesnar’s absence has cooled down the angle a bit despite Cena being there with his new found attitude. It however wasn’t one of those shows that a fan would be eager to pay his money for and here is a look at the Superstar ratings for the week.

#15 AJ Lee 6

The best segment of the night had five divas from the division who were at the top of their category. While all five could’ve easily stolen the spotlight, it was AJ who benefited more as the possibility of a dream feud against Stephanie McMahon opened in front of her. Having Paige lose the title wouldn’t be a good idea but having AJ face Stephanie would be nothing short of brilliant.

#14 Rusev 6

The Bulgarian brute is in a process of changing his foe from Swagger to Henry. This doesn’t mean that the WWE should stop feeding him with jobbers. Another squash match for Rusev against Ryder came up this week but the segment that followed promised that Henry would be a much bigger threat for the monster heel.

#13 Goldust and Stardust 6

The Dust Brothers are firmly establishing themselves as the No.1 contender for the WWE tag team championship. New edginess and heel tactics has started to help the fans connect better with the brothers who can now have a good title reign if they win.

#12 Wyatt Family 6

Bray Wyatt was supposed to resume his feud with Jericho this week but Jericho was invested elsewhere. Erick Rowan and Luke Harper meanwhile was put into a losing effort against Show and Henry which rounded off another bad week for the Wyatts after being embarrassed last time out.

#11 Big Show and Mark Henry 6

The exciting pairing of Henry and Show was at it once again when they faced Wyatt Family. This match wasn’t as good as their previous encounters but there were moments here and there which reminded the fans about the potential. The Rusev angle casts a huge doubt over the future of this team which had all the momentum to be champions.

#10 Cesaro 6.5

After securing a title shot at NOC, the Swiss Superman was out there to build up some momentum. He did just that with the win but was overshadowed a bit by the chaos that was happening around him. Cesaro is back in his game on the happy side and a win at NOC would make things even better for the former Paul Heyman guy.

#9 Dolph Ziggler 6.5

The tag team match this week was another example of how over Ziggler is with the WWE Universe. He was hot throughout the match even if the result didn’t go his way and the Showoff clearly deserves something better than hanging around the midcard with the lights of Damien Sandow or Miz.

#8 Sheamus 6.5

Sheamus might’ve been on the winning side this week at Raw but it was not his story that had the spotlight. The United States Championship bout that Cesaro and Sheamus would have at NOC benefited from the two being in the same ring and would need more segments like this so that the fans would feel more interested about the whole match.

#7 Kane 6.5

The creative team still hasn’t solved a puzzling question about the big red monster on why he took of his mask. He still continues to do the dirty work of Authority and be inside the ring regularly which was the same things he did wearing the mask. There were no signs of promoting the new see no evil film which made it further complicated.

#6 Miz 7

For everyone who forgot, Miz is a former World Champion. He was once at the top of the roster and WWE has started to breathe back some credibility into that character. His new Hollywood gimmick is presenting WWE with the opportunity to build up a good heel in their midcard and this week was another step toward that.

#5 Chris Jericho 7

The WWE fans were living with the impression that the feud between Jericho and Bray is nowhere near over. Jericho returning this week made most of them think otherwise as he got to be part of a solid match rather than playing hide and seek with Bray and his army.

#4 Seth Rollins 7

Absence of Ambrose is really starting to hurt Rollins as he ended up in the wrong side of an attitude adjustment by Cena. With Lesnar as the champion, Rollins will be going nowhere near the title making him another puppet character in the authority till the lunatic fringe returns.

#3 Randy Orton 7

Orton returned after being absent last week but there was nothing new from the viper. His viciousness which was supposed to come back along with the Reigns feud was nowhere to be seen. A rematch with Reigns is pretty much on the books while anything other than that is out of question.

#2 Roman Reigns 7.5

The direction that WWE is planning for Reigns is still a mystery. He had a rub with Rollins last week on Raw and seemed to be back in the mix with Orton this time around. Prospect of a feud with Hunter cannot be ignored as well but for the time being, he is getting the wins which is important.

#1 John Cena 8

The Cenation leader was back to steal the show once again. His journey to seek revenge against Lesnar is the biggest angle that WWE has now at their disposal and was aided by another impressive showing by the former champ. He made his message clear to everyone and has hyped their match despite Lesnar’s absence.
