WWE Power Rankings: 4 October, 2014

Forgettable would be the best word to describe WWE’s week if Dean Ambrose’s antics were taken out of the equation. He was the only star that shined bright amidst the dark period of seven days which had no developments whatsoever for the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.It was the storyline involving Seth Rollins, Ambrose and Cena that took a major bite out of the WWE programming this week when others took a back seat. Big Show’s Flag angle turned out to heat absorbing which is actually good for the feud on the longer run.Apart from these, there was an exciting triple threat match for the Intercontinental title which once again showed that the mid card title is pretty much mixed up. All these impacted the power rankings and here is a look at how the list shaped up after all the developments.

#25 The Miz (Previous Rank 24)

Miz had another opportunity to get the intercontinental title back this week on Raw but failed to achieve the same. He was blasted away by Hunter and couldn’t find a win on SmackDown as well which drops him down to the edge of the Power Rankings.

#24 Alicia Fox (Previous Rank Nil)

The crazy Alicia found a new ally in the form of Paige and the friendship is already doing wonders for the former divas champion. She got a big win over the current champion AJ Lee on Raw thanks to the Brit and has jumped back into the power rankings as a result of this.

#23 Kofi Kingston (Previous Rank Nil)

The much expected Nation of Dominance 2.0 showed no developments whatsoever as the group still remains idle. Kingston individually however split a win and loss this week in the WWE which has helped him to cement a place in the rankings after a long interval.

#22 Tyson Kidd (Previous Rank Nil)

A major portion of the WWE Universe which was cursing the company for their ill usage of Tyson Kidd saw something encouraging this week. Though it wasn’t the way they wanted see Kidd back in the main roster, something is always better than having nothing at all.

#21 Bo Dallas (Previous Rank 22)

Bo Dallas got the biggest win of his career on Raw with an inspirational effort against former World Champion Mark Henry. He followed up the same with another win through disqualification on Main Event but could not escape the wrath of Henry which will certainly haunt him for the weeks to come.

#20 Adam Rose (Previous Rank 20)

The curious case of Adam Rose reached an all-time high this week when the WWE let his bunny be on Television while Rose stayed in the background. Rose however still has the most impressive win – loss ratio in the WWE roster which shows that you don’t need any storyline to get wins.

#19 Jack Swagger (Previous Rank 18)

Swagger’s feud with Bo Dallas seems to have come to an end as he is booked randomly by the WWE creative. There is no practical feud left for Swagger to be involved after this which is rather sad considering how well executed his face turn against Rusev was.

#18 Brie Bella (Previous Rank 21)

Brie did things that Nikki couldn’t and this has added another level to their shallow feud. Her wins in the handicap matches has allowed Brie to climb up the rankings and secure a strong position in the war against her sister which might be settled at Hell in a Cell.

#17 Nikki Bella (Previous Rank 16)

Nikki wanted her sister to suffer in handicap matches but resilient Brie had other plans. Brie overcame all the obstacles thrown at her and made sure that Nikki didn’t get the upper hand. The wasted efforts forces Nikki to drop down one place in the rankings but just ahead of her arch nemesis.

#16 Cesaro (Previous Rank 17)

The Swiss Superman got another shot at Ziggler on Raw but the triple threat rules went against him. Cesaro wasn’t pinned or submitted but still lost the match thanks to Miz. However, he got a well-earned win against his former Real American partner Jack Swagger which helps him improve his ranking.

#15 Mark Henry (Previous Rank 13)

Henry’s miseries continued to pile up as he suffered two defeats against the inspirational Bo Dallas. There were hints of a heel turn from the World’s strongest man which would be a more exciting path for him rather than being wasted as a face.

#14 Wyatt Family (Previous Rank 14)

Wyatts didn’t make it to the ring for another week but there were some cryptic messages dropped by the trio. The biggest take away if Luke Harper is being freed by Bray. Harper made it clear that everyone will be doomed after this and knowing how talented he is, he might be right.

#13 Big Show (Previous Rank 15)

The urge to seek revenge for his friend took a back seat this week for Big Show as it was all about his country. His heroics with the Russian Flag might’ve attracted a lot of controversies but the WWE Universe is firmly behind the giant which is something he would be proud of.

#12 Paige (Previous Rank 12)

Paige’s mission to get back the divas championship from AJ Lee took a new turn this week as she aligned with Alicia Fox. Along with a new friend, the Brit also got a win at SmackDown which helps her to stay rooted to her position in the Power Rankings.

#11 Rusev (Previous Rank 11)

Rusev’s domination was being questioned by the Big Show for the whole week. Though many believed that Mark Henry was the biggest opponent for Rusev, Show has raised the bar higher for the Bulgarian Brute who has to prove a point now.

#10 AJ Lee (Previous Rank 9)

The Divas Champion took a beating at the hands of Paige on Raw after Alicia Fox softened her up. The loss will not be a bigger blow for AJ in her feud with Paige but it has reflected in the Power Rankings as she drops down on place and is in danger of being knocked out of the top ten.

#9 Dust Brothers (Previous Rank 8)

The Tag team champions suffered a defeat at the hands of Usos when Stardust was floored by Jimmy Uso at Superstars. This is a big blow for the brothers who have dropped down the rankings and are behind their nearest contenders for the championship.

#8 The Usos (Previous Rank 10)

It was a week full of wins for Rikishi’s sons as they ended up on the winning side on both Raw and Superstars. Getting a win over Stardust was the biggest point for the former champions as they got another one before challenging for the tag titles.

#7 Dean Ambrose (Previous Rank 7)

The Lunatic fringe once again proved to be the biggest star of the week due to his unpredictable antics against Seth Rollins. The friction that he has with John Cena is proving to be a subplot for Ambrose who has managed to stamp his place as the anti – hero that the fans have been waiting for.

#6 Sheamus (Previous Rank 6)

Sheamus still doesn’t have a clue about who his next challenger would be but got another win under his belt against the stunt double of Miz, Damien Sandow. Sheamus being paired with Dolph Ziggler might hint at the unification match in the near future but till then random book seems to be the best path.

#5 Dolph Ziggler (Previous Rank 5)

The Intercontinental champion had a great week this time around as he picked up two impressive wins. The win in the triple threat match would go down in Ziggler’s career as one of his best and the fans would certainly be looking for more matches like that in the future.

#4 Randy Orton (Previous Rank 4)

Orton’s alignment with the Authority is not getting him what he wants. He suffered two defeats due to disqualification this week and the viper has started to show some friction against the favor that Hunter is showing Mr. Money in the bank despite the things he does.

#3 Seth Rollins (Previous Rank 3)

Rollins is being kept out of in ring action by the authority but he still is the focal point of WWE’s best storyline. Rollins was embarrassed by Ambrose this week and was addressed by Paul Heyman on how the Beast would be looking to settle the score next week.

#2 John Cena (Previous Rank 2)

The Cenation leader’s friction with Dean Ambrose escalated to new heights this week as both men couldn’t find a solution on who should get their hands on Rollins first. Cena also made it clear that he is not out of the title picture yet which made the Internet fans frown a bit.

#1 Brock Lesnar (Previous Rank 1)

Lesnar’s absence from the WWE programming is making everyone frustrated at the moment as the company is finding it hard to build a storyline for him. The only thing that we know now is that Lesnar is unhappy about what Rollins did and this might lead to a confrontation between the beast and the Authority.
