This weeks Smackdown was important for the fact that the Intercontinental title picture got more and more interesting. Spoilers pointed towards more screen time for Dean Ambrose, which is always a good thing and the majority of the show seemed to have circled around Ambrose and his possession of Bad News Barrett’s title. All the rest of the show was nothing different from what it comes out with every other week. But yet this was an important episode. Here are the five promising developments from this weeks Smackdown-

#5 Daniel Bryan enters the picture

We knew there were reports that Bryan may just eye the Intercontinental title. May just.

But nobody, even the spoilers, thought that it would be on Smackdown. Bryan started the night with a promo of his own until Barrett interrupted him and asked him to shut up and talk about his issues. Out comes Ambrose, a brawl ensues between the champion and the man who deserves to be champion. And then for some moments, Bryan held the title and refused to hand it over to Barrett.Cue- another brawl.

And then we have Ambrose looking at Bryan suspiciously despite both of them celebrating with the crowd. This little detail goes along with that other detail on Raw when Ambrose bumped shoulders with Ziggler.

Just a sign of things to come in the next few weeks.

#4 R-Truth gets a chance?

Dean Ambrose featured in another entertaining segment on Smackdown. R-Truth was strutting around with the Intercontinental Title. He didn’t pose a threat to Ambrose who met him backstage and asked for the title back. R-Truth followed suit and handed it over and followed it up with the most hilarious line of the show ‘Two title changes in one night. Smackdown was on fire. Go get them, Dean’

This follows the trend that started on Raw called #GiveTruth AChance

Looks like, Truth will get a chance.

#3 Welcome to the bad side, Natalya

For all the time given to Natalya and Naomi, who are two of the best performers on the main roster, they did churn out a decent match. The biggest factor was Natalya’s heel turn. This character change has rejuvenated Natalya gimmick and given both her and Naomi something to fight for and not just be valets to their respective tag teams.

And since #GiveDivasAChance has been making news for way beyond than Monday Night Raw, it seems their storyline will feature on the main roster with the Divas Championship storyline as well.

#2 Counting Team Ziggler\'s days

For weeks,Ziggler has been teaming up with Ryback and beating up Team Rollins, ahem, I meant Team Authority. But it is only filler until he joins the Intercontinental Title picture. Smackdown had a replay of all these team matches that involves Ziggler and this seems like his last. There will be a glaring void if Ziggler does not get invoved in the upcoming Raw in the IC title picture.

#1 The championship won\'t die

It might seem to some that the relevancy of the Intercontinental title has been lost in time and space. It might seem that Ambrose has lost momentum since main eventing two PPVs last year.

But no. Hell No!

This is the best phase that the Intercontinental title is in towards its road to Redemption. This is the most interesting story going on this week. Ambrose is the young star on the rise, Daniel Bryan is the biggest babyface in the company, Dolph Ziggler is the biggest underdog, Bad News Barrett is a sad villain and R-Truth is a guy nobody in the higher-up really cares much about.

And all of them are now, it seems vying for the lost prestige of the Intercontinental title.

And after such a long time, there’ll be a ladder match at Wrestlemania, it seems.

This has got to be goosebumps-worthy.
