WWE Survivor Series 2014: 5 storylines worth following all the way to the pay-per-view

The buildup that WWE gave before Hell in a Cell was nothing short of disastrous. They failed to cook the right amount of heat for some matches while the others remained half-baked. A good showing in the pay-per-view however saved the face of WWE creative to a certain extent and the company cannot afford to repeat the same mistakes this time around. The successful outing at Hell in a Cell has presented the writers with a big wide stage from where they could work out a memorable buildup for Survivor Series. There are certain storylines that would be instrumental in those buildups and here is a look at those exciting angles that would make the road to Survivor Series worth watching.

#5 New rebel for the Authority

Going back through history, WWE has had many rebels against the Authority. Names like Steve Austin, Rock, Daniel Bryan and recently Dean Ambrose flourished in that role and now, John Cena has his chance to shine.

A majority of the WWE Universe would find it hard to digest the decision but Cena would be a more than fitting opponent for Hunter and Stephanie.

The process of Cena building up a team for the pay-per-view would be entertaining to watch as the Authority would do everything in their power to make sure Cena doesn’t have one.

We can see a lot of chaotic endings like the one we saw on Raw in the coming weeks which will make the traditional match more exciting.

#4 Feed him more

This week’s Raw saw the rebirth of Ryback. He came out to a wild reaction from the fans that were only visible during a past phase of his career where he was pushed as a monster babyface.

That same push seems to have resurfaced this time around and the WWE can cash in on the big guy’s momentum. One thing that the fans love about Ryback is his attitude in the matches no matter where he is booked.

He comes out and tries to rally the troops irrespective of his alignment and push. That is what the company needs at this moment when they have a depleted roster.

And just to get the hang of how improved Ryback is in the mic work. here are some lines from an interview of his with Renee Young, “The WWE Universe needs a hero, now more than ever."

#3 The personal assistant

The personal assistant stipulation that Brie and Nikki had at Hell in a Cell was sure to deliver a compelling storyline after the match. If WWE can break out of their habit of screwing up things, it could actually be compelling.

Nikki now has the chance to dig deep into her heel character by treating Brie as her slave. Along with that, Nikki seems heading for the Divas Championship as well after producing a new found friction with AJ Lee.

Brie would be a big subplot in the Nikki – AJ feud as the personal assistant would be trying her best to help AJ and screw Nikki in the process. There are going to be a lot of entertaining segments with the personal assistant angle and the inclusion of AJ would make it credible.

#2 Rookie Killer

Randy Orton has made up a name for being the legend killer. He has laid out many legendary names in the business and currently Orton seems to have taken up a different role where he looks like a Rookie Killer.

Rollins is still a rookie in the main event scene and being put into a feud is only going to do good for the architect. WWE will not be looking for a full-fledged feud between the two as the road to Survivor Series will only contain some great teasing.

Hunter will be looking after the duo and trying to ease the friction between them while Orton would be hell bound to settle the score with Rollins which is sure to give the fans a compelling narrative.

#1 I see myself in you

The closing moments of Hell in a Cell have been widely debated as the WWE fans are apparently split about Bray’s interference in the Rollins – Ambrose match.

If we isolate the interference from the pay-per-view spotlight, we would realize that it was pure perfection from the creative team. Ambrose and Bray are two names that would make the weekly shows a must watch.

It’s insane vs insanity as both men could be equally unpredictable. In fact, it will be a feud where Bray and Ambrose would be trying to figure out who is more insane.

The mic work in particular is going to shine bright through all that the WWE is going to book elsewhere in the card and this will be the company’s big draw for Survivor Series for sure.
