Top 5 WWE Rumors of the Week and Analysis : 20 July, 2014

Being just hours away from a major pay-per-view doesnt stop the rumor mill from quenching the thirst of entire speculation hungry majority in the WWE Universe.Though the rumors werent as exciting as the ones that came up last week this time, there were some twisted reports that left the fans with a wide open mouth. Battleground was in the middle of some of these while the inefficiency of WWE creative was exposed in another.CM Punks contract ending was big news over the week but it failed to give life to any rumor that had the possibility of materializing. Stings teased appearance also went cold with just a WWE 2K15 commercial leaving him out of the scenario as well. With almost all said, here is a look at the top rumors that poked up this week and how they could effect WWE in the long run.

#5 Summer Rae and Layla together because of Beautiful people in TNA

WWE’s ignorance of TNA being a competition to them might be finally coming down as Dixie Carter’s promotion is making all the right moves to secure a new deal with Spike TV. TNA has also extended their reach in Japan well which is believed to be the indirect reason why WWE signed Kenta.

And WWE’s latest pairing of Summer Rae and Layla has given birth to rumors saying that this might be the WWE’s depiction of the Beautiful people that is becoming immensely popular in TNA and the internet.

Last time, it was the team of Michelle McCool and Layla which did the job and WWE’s failure to get McCool on board has worked in favor of Summer. The best part about the news is WWE’s willingness to accept TNA which might lead to a better product.

#4 Cesaro braced for a face turn soon

Paul Heyman being absent from Cesaro’s side last week on Raw was WWE’s idea of saying that Cesaro iis all set to turn face in the near future.

Earlier, there were reports saying that the management has lost its eagerness to push Cesaro and this was the reason why Heyman was taken away from the Swiss Superman. But now the rumors suggest that the company doesn’t want Heyman to manage both Cesaro and Lesnar at the same time.

This might mean that Cesaro will be without his manager till Night of champions putting his status in the company up in the air. Cesaro is already low on momentum due to the losses he took and a face turn seems to be the only thing that could save him right now.

#3 The big gold belt is retired

Back in December, the company gave the fans a match billed as the WWE title unification to have only one major champion in the roster. This champion had the responsibility of carrying around two titles with him since WWE had this idea of splitting the titles if the idea doesn’t go through well.

That might be coming to an soon as it is rumored that the company is retiring the big gold belt and only having the WWE title.

This came after Cena gave the belt to Flair on Raw and asked him to keep it. Cena also said that he will be defending the WWE title instead of saying “WWE world heavyweight championship” which made the fans buzz more.

If it materializes, WWE fans will only see one title at Battleground which will be easier for the winner to carry and the fans to follow.

#2 WWE has no idea on what to do with Ric Flair

The WWE creative’s inefficiency has been out there for everyone to see so far and another rumor that came out this week has made matter worse.

Ric Flair is currently signed with the company but is kept of the television because the writers don’t know what to do with him. Flair has been a mainstay in live shows for some time now and made appearance in Raw without making any kind of narrative involvement.

It was earlier rumored that Flair would be returning as a manager for Miz but no moves has yet been made for the same as Miz is getting a separate singles push.

The idea of Charlotte getting pushed into the main roster and Flair being the manager is still in the books, however for now, the company is in a deadlock with the nature boy.

#1 John Cena to lose the title at Battleground

The Cenation leader will face Randy Orton, Kane and Roman Reigns at Battleground for the WWE title and the rumor making the round suggest that Cena is all set to drop the title at the pay-per-view.

Though a match between Cena and Lesnar is being pitted for SummerSlam, at this point it might not be for the title. With Lesnar set to return for the Raw after Battleground, WWE will be looking to build up for this match but the apparent problem will be Cena’s absence.

Cena is certain to miss this week’s Raw due to film commitments and this has fueled the rumors of his dropping the title.

Reigns is the name floating around for being the new champion and it is also said to be WWE’s idea of pulling the trigger on his big push.
