WWE Top 5 Rumours of the Week and Analysis : 5 July, 2015

Nikki Bella

LanaWWE celebrated their Fourth of July weekend in Asia with some excellent house shows. Brock Lesnar’s destruction of New Day, Finn Balor becoming the new NXT Champion, Chris Jericho’s outstanding performance, and all made headlines from the tour. While this happened on one side of the world, the internet was busy piling up rumours as usual. Some of the results from the Tokyo Event could have huge implications on the future of the WWE main roster. Vince McMahon’s weird fetishes proved to be another major talking point in the rumour mill along with WWE’s Divas Division. So without further introductions, here is a look at the top five rumors of this week and their potential impacts on the WWE product.

#5 Top Diva working through Injury

Nikki Bella

WWE’s intentions of dethroning AJ Lee from the longest reigning Divas Champion throne are clear from Nikki Bella’s current run. Nikki is just months away from doing the same, but the journey hasn’t always been filled with sunshine and rainbows. The Divas Champion apparently worked through a lot of injuries through her reign with the most notable being a hamstring problem. Also, Nikki is currently wrestling with a separated shoulder.

If the rumour turns out to be true, then Nikki would attract a lot more respect from the WWE Universe. At the same time, she will have to push herself since we are not seeing a new champion till Nikki breaks the record of AJ Lee.

#4 Lana to wrestle soon

Lana

A major portion of the WWE Universe was surprised when Lana was touted to be the new face of Divas Division. Lana being a valet was the problem for the concern, but this issue looks all set to be solved soon. WWE is planning to let Lana wrestle in the coming months and Summer Rae is her rumored opponent. The storyline involving Dolph Ziggler, Summer Rae, Rusev and Lana might see one or two mixed tag team matches.

WWE might be going for the catfight scenarios that they used heavily during the Attitude Era since Lana is not trained properly to be a wrestler. But the interesting thing here are the future prospects WWE will have in store for Lana once she starts wrestling.

#3 Status of Undertaker and Sting at WrestleMania

Sting

The talks about WrestleMania 32 are already finding its place in the internet dirt sheets. The latest rumours suggest that Vince McMahon is planning six top matches for the granddaddy of them all. A match involving Rock and Triple H is locked along with a match for John Cena. A triple Threat for Shield is another possibility being tossed around. However, the Sting vs. Undertaker dream match is apparently dropped. Undertaker and Sting might wrestle at WrestleMania 32, but they will not wrestle against each other.

WrestleMania 32 is expected to be Sting’s retirement show and he is the favourite to headline Hall of Fame as well. As far as Undertaker’s opponent is concerned, there are talks about Kevin Owens getting the pick.

#2 New Champion to be crowned at Battleground

Kevin Owens

All the Kevin Owens fans out there probably had a bad 4th of July as he dropped the NXT championship to Finn Balor in Tokyo. But guess what, there is something better in store for Owens. Owens is the favorite to win the United States Championship at Battleground and dropping the NXT title to Balor was part of the plan.

WWE will build NXT around Balor for the foreseeable future while Owens will be given the chance to establish his name in the main roster further. There is no hint on what the plans for Money in the Bank are but if Owens wins at Battleground, we could get the fourth installment of Cena vs. Owens at the biggest pay-per-view of summer.

#1 Vince McMahon unhappy with Shield Members

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins

This was probably the weirdest rumour that came out last week. Nevertheless, it was good enough to feature in our weekly list. So according to the speculations, Vince McMahon is not happy with the matches that Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose put together. This can go two ways, it could be true, or it could be just speculation.

If it is just another rumour, then there is nothing to be worried about. However, if Vince is indeed unhappy with the Rollins-Ambrose matches, then WWE is in some deep trouble. The chairman of the promotion does not like one of the most fan favorite feuds. If this is not enough to define screw-ups, then I don’t know what is.
