10 reasons why WWE is the most successful pro-wrestling company in the world

The standard in professional wrestling.

Professional wrestling is a world all to itself. It's a world that some don't understand, but many of us can't live without. Within this world of pro wrestling, there's the WWE...then everyone else. In regards to legitimate competition, it does not exist.

Now, you can be delusional all you want, but the fact of the matter is that the WWE is the juggernaut in sports entertainment. WCW was the only company that ever pushed WWE to the limit and at times, WCW would rise above and take the lead in areas such as ratings, during the famed Monday Night Wars.

Yet, at the end of the day, WWE came out on top, eventually gulping down its only true competition ever known. Sure, there's plenty of room at the table for the others, such as Ring of Honor, Dragon Gate, New Japan, Pro Wrestling Gorilla, Evolve, TNA and any others who want to pull up a seat.

However, there's only room for one seat at the head of this table, and it is reserved for World Wrestling Entertainment.

Since the early days of the WWWF, the McMahon led company has continued to evolve with the times and consistently made the changes necessary to remain atop the industry. There's certainly no secret recipe when it comes to WWE's global dominance.

There are just a few vital keys to success in which the WWE has mastered, which have kept the company in the driver’s seat for nearly four decades.

With this in mind, let’s take a look at 10 of the top reasons why WWE remains the most successful wrestling company in the entire world.

#10 Family Friendly Programming

Fans of all ages are welcome into the WWE Universe.

There's a lot of debate when it comes to this topic, but the WWE has decided to continue moulding their product into something the whole family can enjoy. Sure, the Attitude Era was fun and exciting, but it wasn't something that you could watch with your children.

Nowadays, WWE produces a product that father's and sons sit down and watch together on Monday nights. Plus, now when you attend a live show, you're seeing more and more families going together, as opposed to some of the previous era's when you would be more likely to have a night out with the guys at a WWE show.

Gearing towards the younger demographic is something that many fans feared would compromise the overall quality of the production. However, as we now see today, we are witnessing some of the best storytelling in quite some time. This has also increased revenue, due to the broader fan base.

#9 Top-Tier Matches

We have seen some stellar matches lately.

This sort of carries over from number 10, in a way. Today's new era has produced some amazing matches lately. There aren't many of those old nonsensical gimmick matches anymore. Instead, we are getting good, technically sound, quality matches, night after night. Guys like Dolph Ziggler and The Miz, just to name a couple can really go in the ring.

These guys are knocking it out of the park in recent matches. Kevin Owens, Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles and so on. All of these incredible WWE Superstars are successfully putting together some outstanding matches, on a consistent basis.

#8 Plenty of Weekly Content

There's plenty of action each week.

Each and every week, you and I are privy to the most wrestling shows than ever before. As we all know, each week we now get brand new episodes of Raw, Smackdown Live and NXT. This doesn't even include Superstars and Main Event.

There's never been a better time to be a WWE fan, with all of this weekly content. With the company now going with two live shows every week, it not only gives us an abundance of programming, but it shows the confidence the company has in their current product. This confidence is what will continue to fuel its’ growth for years to come.

#7 Women's Wrestling

We wanted a revolution, we got it.

A while back, Stephanie McMahon promised fans that there would be a women’s revolution and boy did she deliver. While some were sceptical in the beginning, that promise is now being fulfilled right before our eyes. We now have the likes of Sasha Banks, Bayley, Asuka, Becky Lynch and Charlotte, just to name a few.

All of these ladies are young, highly talented and are delivering quality on a nightly basis. Not only that, but the company has gotten the women's division to the level where they are now main eventing televised shows. It's an amazing feat, which shows no signs of letting up.

#6 The Live Experience

There's nothing like it!

It's a lot of fun to watch WWE on television each week, but there is nothing that can top the live event experience. Not just the level of top talent now on the roster, but the live event as a whole is something that will certainly deliver your money’s worth.

The theatrics, the lights, the pyrotechnics and all of the things that go into putting together the live event experience, is something that the WWE has mastered and no one currently comes close. The production quality of the WWE is absolutely mesmerizing.

#5 Wrestlemania

The granddaddy of them all.

It's known as "the granddaddy of them all," some call it a spectacle, or simply the biggest show of the year. Wrestlemania began as an idea to compete against other prominent events, such as Starrcade. It has grown into something far greater than anyone could've possibly ever dreamt of.

Last year, over 100,000 fans witnessed history at the largest wrestling related show in the history of the entire existence of the industry. Wrestlemania has continuously outdone itself, year after year and with Wrestlemania 33 set to return to Orlando, there are plans for an even bigger event than last year's.

Each year, Wrestlemania brings out the who's who of not only professional wrestling, but stars from film, music and all genres of entertainment make their way to wrestling's biggest event. With other events such as Axxess and the Hall of Fame Ceremony, the entire week leading up to Wrestlemania has turned into a multi-day celebration.

Wrestlemania has been a vital piece of the steady progress and ultimate success that the company has enjoyed for decades.

#4 NXT

NXT brings it, week after week.

The guys and gals of the yellow brand have created an addition to the WWE banner which has brought things to a whole new level. What was once designed to be nothing more than a developmental brand, has enveloped into one of the most exciting productions in all of professional wrestling.

Thanks to the leadership of Triple H and everyone at the WWE Performance Center, NXT delivers nothing but greatness on a weekly basis.

Each week, NXT is the most watched WWE Network program and with superstars like Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe, combined with the remaining roster and the others still developing, NXT has a very bright future, which will continue to give the WWE that extra added push that no one can touch.

#3 WWE Network

There's something for everyone on the WWE Network.

Since the idea was first conceived, there's been a level of excitement surrounding the WWE Network, which has carried over into its full operation today. Millions of fans, from all over the world enjoy the benefits of what only the WWE Network can deliver.

From Network exclusives and original content to the massive on-demand library of everything from the past and today, the WWE Network has evolved into a must-have for all wrestling fans.

In 2015 wrestling fans watched over 260 million hours of WWE Network content. That equates to roughly 190 hours per household in America alone. Fans young and old, no matter the age, there is something for everyone on the Network.

#2 WWE Superstars

The talent today is better than ever.

The past few years have been simply amazing, in regards to the amount of top-tier talent that has been signed to a WWE contract. Not in my wildest dreams, could I have ever imagined the day I would see AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and Shinsuke Nakamura all holding top titles in the WWE.

With the evolution of the NXT system, the talent will continue to roll in. Considering the company has two main rosters, as well as the NXT roster, there will always be a place for a high-quality talent in the WWE.

#1 Vincent Kennedy McMahon

The Chairman of the Board, Vincent Kennedy McMahon.

I know there are some who just rolled their eyes in disgust. However, regardless of whether you hate him, love him, or feel indifferent about him, the fact remains, no one is, nor has ever been as influential and powerful in the professional wrestling industry than Vince McMahon.

Even in his 70's, Mr. McMahon continues to revolutionise the business with fresh ideas and compelling stories of good versus evil, by way of the WWE Superstars.

Vince knew when he met his father, at 12 years old, that he had to follow in his footsteps. Not only has he done so, but Vince has successfully re-invented the wheel, so to speak. With the company currently thriving with the over-abundance of great talent, the future is definitely in good hands with the McMahon family, along with Triple H.
