5 men who could defeat Braun Strowman

Strowman is a monster, but he is not unbeatable

Braun Strowman is WWE’s new massive beast. Brock Lesnar won’t be around forever, while Kane and Big Show are soon to be on their way out of WWE. It’s only a matter of time before Braun Strowman is the top big man on the WWE roster.

Shockingly, the man has improved leaps and bounds over where he was as part of the Wyatt family. He not only has charisma but can also speak coherently during interviews and promos.

Most importantly, the guy hasn’t made an in-ring mistake in months. He’s getting better, and there’s only one way to go for him: up. And while normally, especially for a big bruiser like Strowman, the people you meet on the way up are the people that you always put down, that does not have to be the case.

Obviously, Braun needs to show domination to more important superstars as time goes on, but there are some men who could, and maybe even should, defeat him while he makes his ascent to the top of the food chain.

Here are 5 guys who just might be able to defeat Braun Strowman.

#5 Brock Lesnar

Brock has not forgotten about the Royal Rumble

It seemed like WWE was leaning toward Bray Wyatt vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32, but that didn’t happen.

Back at the 2016 Royal Rumble, Strowman, Harper and Rowan eliminated Lesnar. Strowman, who probably didn’t know what he was doing at the time, also stood up like a wall as Brock tried to knock him over before the Beast Incarnate was finally able to take the New Beast off of his feet.

It may be time for some retribution, and at some point in 2017, Strowman and Lesnar could cross paths. A loss to Brock, possibly with some outside interference, would not be devastating to Strowman, especially if he spends some time throwing Lesnar around the ring with his brute force.

#4 John Cena

Cena defeats everybody at one point or another

You know it’s going to happen.

WWE is known for overkill, which means that it’s possible that they may bring back a “bragging rights” type event (possibly Bragging Rights itself) at the end of spring or beginning of the summer so RAW and SmackDown can clash once again because the two brands clashing once a year just isn’t enough.

If they don’t do that, you still have to expect WWE to get antsy and, instead of elevating young talent, move guys around on the talent rosters with a new draft next summer. If that’s the case, Strowman and Cena can end up on the same show, and Cena, as always, could end up vanquishing the monster.

#3 Sami Zayn

Will Zayn defeat Strowman sooner rather than later?

I expect that Zayn and Strowman are going to have their one-on-one match at Roadblock in December. They fought it out in the Battle Royal a couple of weeks back, but before that, Braun refused to fight him. Survivor Series has stifled their chance to wrestle each other for now, but it’s a perfect match for the final WWE pay-per-view event of 2016.

WWE has a month to build the match back up when Survivor Series is in the books, and it can lead perfectly into their first actual in-ring clash at Roadblock.

In a reversal of how feuds often tend to go, the good guy should win the first match and then get decimated in every confrontation thereafter. A hard fought victory for Sami Zayn would be great, and it could also mark Strowman’s very first legitimately good match in WWE.

Zayn could eliminate Strowman from the Royal Rumble, and then at RAW’s next PPV before WrestleMania, Braun can defeat Sami in their rematch. Braun could then win the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal (does anybody else have a chance this year?) by last eliminating Sami, exorcising that demon once and for all.

#2 Big Cass

The crowd would go nuts if Cass could take out Strowman

One big man that is going to be on his way up sooner rather than later is Big Cass. He’s still very successfully teaming up with Enzo Amore, so it will be a while until he moves on to a singles run, but it will definitely happen.

By the time Cass begins moving up the singles ranks, Strowman will be well established in the realm of men like Big Show and Kane before him. Toppling a big monstrous superstar like Strowman will be exactly what a guy like Cass would need to put him one step higher and one step closer to the upper echelon.

#1 Finn Balor

They won't be this friendly in the ring

When he returns, Finn Balor is quickly going to fly right back up to the top. When he eventually wins the WWE Universal Title back, you have to expect that Braun Strowman is going to be one of his challengers. Strowman is going to demand a title shot and Finn, being a fighting champion, will accept.

It’s the classic story of a babyface champion taking on the challenge of a giant, ruthless opponent.

Finn will spend a few weeks getting thrown around by Strowman, and he may never get the upper hand for the entire build to the match. Once match time comes, however, the champion will find something deep down inside of him (it’s what champions do!) in order to slay the monster and hold onto his Universal Title. It writes itself, really.
