TALK IS JERICHO

Chris Jericho put Alice Cooper in his list...of interviews

There are two sides to Chris Jericho- he’s both a wrestler and a rock star. And it was no surprise that he chose to interview, one of the foremost names in rock n’ roll this week- the one, the only, Alice Cooper.

The legendary rock star, known for his brand of ‘shock rock’, spoke about how he survived on beer in his younger days, and how, much like pro wrestling, even when you’re on the road, there’s a lot of time with nothing to do. And this leads to excesses. Alice spoke about two rock stars known for their excesses.

The late drummer of The Who, Keith Moon, was once a friend of Alice Cooper. And every day in his life was like a movie. One day Alice came home, with his 19-year old wife, only to discover Moon in a French Maid’s outfit. His wife asked who he was. Alice Cooper said he’s the greatest drummer of all time.

Alice Cooper was full of anecdotes

Another name that was mentioned was Lemmy, known to many professional wrestling fans as the vocalist of Motorhead, and the man who sang ‘The Game’, ‘King of Kings’ and ‘Evolution’. One of the last things Lemmy would say before his demise recently, was, ‘Alice, I’ve stopped drinking whisky, I only drink vodka now’.

At a recent award show that Chris Jericho hosted called, ‘The Classic Rock Awards’, Alice would notice how sick Lemmy looked. He knew then that Lemmy’s days were numbered.

Alice, on the contrary, said he’s in better shape at 68, where he does five shows a week, as compared to when he was 28. He spoke about acting in singing and how except for metal bands these days, the new lot of rock singers are wimpy. There’s no sense of ‘outlaw’ in them.

The outlaws that Alice mentioned were Iggy Pop, Jim Morrison, Axl Rose, Jeff Beck, The Kinks and Pete Townshend from The Who.

Alice would mention many other anecdotes, one among which stands out. He was a part of Wrestlemania, and backstage, he saw three little men scream at Andre, The Giant. He was in a segment with Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, who had a boa constrictor with a bad attitude. Ultimately he concluded that rock n’ roll and professional wrestling were similar indeed.

An entertaining interview with a legend in rock music!
