WWE: Why Daniel Bryan's win over Randy Orton means nothing

The Yes Movement has to be feeling pretty good right now. Not only is their favorite superstar in the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE World Heavyweight title, but also now has a victory over the champion and face of the WWE – Randy Orton.

Daniel Bryan trumped The WWE World Heavyweight Champion on Monday night, countering Orton’s RKO, before catching him by surprise with a vicious running knee right to the face. The WWE Universe quickly rose to their feet, to chant the three count alongside the referee in the ring.

The victory would be short lived however, as Bryan was then attacked by his former Tag Team partner and the Director of Operations for Monday Night Raw, Kane. After a choke slam from the Big Red Monster, Orton joined the fray, hitting Bryan with and RKO for good measure.

For those of you in The Yes Movement who think that a win over Orton on Monday night is proof that the WWE plans to put the belt on him at WrestleMania XXX, then like Bad News Barrett would say, “I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news!”

First off; yes, the WWE did allow Daniel Bryan to win his match by a clean pin over Orton, but what fans need to notice, is that he in no way had the upper hand over his opponent when RAW went off the air on Monday night. Like so many times in the past few months, Daniel Bryan was left in a crumpled heap, as “The Viper” stood triumphantly over him, holding both titles high above his head.

Bryan’s win on Monday night was nothing more than a desperate attempt by the WWE to get a cheap pop out of the WWE Universe at the end of the program. With Punk leaving the company, and John Cena out with an injury from a live show, what choice did the WWE Creative have then to have Bryan get a win over Orton? Anything else would have felt like a disappointment to the fans in the arena and at home.

Kane’s interference at the end of the match makes it obvious that the WWE is putting Daniel Bryan in CM Punk‘s vacated anti-authority storyline spot. The ending was designed not so Bryan would look stronger heading into The Elimination Chamber title match in two weeks, but so he would renew his rivalry with The Authority, and begin to set up his match with Triple H at WrestleMania XXX.

Although the victory is meaningless for Bryan title hunt wise, the match itself was actually one of the best Orton and Bryan have had together. The bout had each superstar wearing the other down by focusing on certain body parts of their opponent, and the reversal at the end by Bryan had the biggest crowd reaction of the night (besides CM Punk chants, of course)!

I know by now the members of The Yes movement that may be reading this could feel a little discouraged or angered by what I am saying, but just because Bryan’s win over Orton on Monday Night won’t mean anything right now, it doesn’t mean that he still can’t have a title run down the road.

Daniel Bryan versus Triple H at WrestleMania XXX could be made more interesting if the right stipulation was added to the match. Fans of The Yes movement would certainly be more excited about the match if Bryan was guaranteed a title shot at the next pay per view for defeating Triple H at “The Show of Shows.”

In the end, it’s better then what the WWE originally had in mind for Bryan at WrestleMania XXX. Having him face Sheamus in a match would have just been a huge disappointment for everyone that has followed Daniel Brayn’s push this year . At least with a match against Triple H, he is going up against one of the best superstars of all time, and also a multiple time WWE Champion.
