5 potential feuds for Sami Zayn if he wins the Intercontinental Title

The sun is certainly shining brightly on WWE Superstar Sami Zayn. The former two-time Intercontinental Champion has an opportunity to soar to his third reign as champion after becoming the #1 contender for Shinsuke Nakamura's IC Title.

The Underdog From The Underground outlasted 11 other superstars in the 12 Days of Christmas - 12-Man Gauntlet Match on the latest edition of SmackDown. Zayn was the last entrant in this match as he defeated Ricochet with a Helluva Kick.

Sami, in a short time, has won his second seasonal match. He previously also triumphed in the Black Friday Battle Royal to become the #1 contender for the Universal Title. Things did not go as planned then as Brock Lesnar destroyed him ahead of his match against champion Roman Reigns.

Zayn will undoubtedly hope for things to be better this time around as he will go head to head against his former partner from 'The Artists Collective,' Shinsuke Nakamura. The bout between these superstars for the IC Title will be one for the ages.

In an incredible performance in the 12-Man Gauntlet Match, Ricochet overcame three superstars to become the second last surviving member.

He beat young Humberto and veterans like Sheamus and Jinder Mahal but fell short to Sami Zayn in the final match. Revenge will surely be on the cards for the 'Human Highlight Reel' as he would look to dethrone Sami if he is the next Intercontinental Champion.

If he can beat Zayn, it will also start Ricochet's first reign as IC Champion.

#4 Happy Corbin vs. Sami Zayn

Happy Corbin and Sami Zayn have had some epic battles in the past.

It seems WWE has forgotten that Corbin was the #1 contender to Nakamura's IC Title when he beat him in a Contendership Match on the October 22 episode of SmackDown. If Zayn dethrones Shinsuke to become the new IC Champion, Corbin could go after him for the title.

The contest between the two will undoubtedly be a tremendous affair as Corbin will look to seal the deal with End of Days, whereas Zayn will focus on beating him with the Helluva Kick.

#3 Sheamus vs. Sami Zayn

One title that has eluded Sheamus in his esteemed WWE career so far is the Intercontinental Championship.

The Celtic Warrior put up a brave fight in the 12-Man Gauntlet Match, overcoming Ivar, Cesaro, and Drew Gulak before falling short to Ricochet. This should motivate Sheamus to challenge Zayn for the IC Title if the latter is the new champion.

The contest between the two superstars will be a spectacle the WWE Universe would not want to miss.

#2 Drew McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn

Drew McIntyre is too good a fighter not to have gold around his waist, and Sami Zayn could serve as the perfect bait.

The Scottish Warrior is currently in a feud with Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss and will face the latter at the upcoming Day 1 pay-per-view. Having said this, since being drafted to SmackDown earlier, Drew hasn't held any title.

With Brock Lesnar staking his claim to the Universal Title, McIntyre can go after Sami Zayn if he becomes the new IC Champion. The battle between these superstars will undoubtedly be worth every cent of the WWE Universe.

#1 Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Sami Zayn (Rematch for the IC Title)

Shinsuke Nakamura will undoubtedly stake his claim for a rematch if he loses the IC Title to Sami Zayn.

The King of Strong Style has held on to the belt for an impressive 135+ days and will indeed look to get it back. With that being said, Nakamura finally has a worthy opponent in Zayn as he hasn't defended the gold on many occasions from the time he became champion.

WWE needs to capitalize on this and have a series of matches between these superstars to keep the storyline engaging around the Intercontinental Championship.
