Jon Moxley AEW bound?

5 Potential Opponents for Jon Moxley in AEW

Dean Ambrose was unhappy with his time in WWE. He left for a variety of reasons but one of the main points is that he felt let down by the WWE creative. His heel turn was poorly done and it just didn't work. In essence, going to AEW would be creatively satisfying but it wont be as Dean Ambrose.

Jon Moxley. That name is going to be on the tip of everyone's tongue for the next month or so. It's very possible that Jon Moxley is going to show up at AEW Double or Nothing. While this has been speculated by fans in the larger fanbase, it's getting closer to be a reality.

As of right now, the only thing that that fans have is speculation at best. Nothing has been confirmed and everything should be taken with a grain of salt. As reported, Jon Moxley aka Dean Ambrose released a video on his twitter account. The video showcased Dean Ambrose escaping from 'an asylum' and the video previews the return of Jon Moxley at the end.

Some have analyzed the video showing that during the video, Jon Moxley walks past a pair of dice adding up to 25. AEW Double or Nothing is on May 25, 2019. Moreover, Cody Rhodes has also liked the video on his twitter account as well. So, it's logical to speculate that Jon Moxley may show up at the PPV on May and beyond in AEW.

#5. Jimmy Havoc

Before we get into it, some wrestling fans might be asking who is Jimmy Havoc? A recent signee of AEW, Jimmy Havoc has actually been around for a while. He has appeared in Combat Zone Wrestling, Impact Wrestling, MLW and Defiant Wrestling. He is known for his dark personna which is akin to a serial killer and violent matches.

Be it tables, ladders, chairs or even tubelights, Jimmy Havoc gives the term 'extreme' a run for its money. Some may not realize that Jon Moxley was a similar king of extreme early on in his career. So, both these men going at it in an AEW ring would certainly thrill the larger fanbase.

#4. Chris Jericho

Y2J vs Moxley

Sure, most fans have already seen this match in WWE. But were they able to go all the way? Chris Jericho has spoken of the fact that WWE has limited his creativity in the past. While he is thankful for his WWE career, his signing with AEW gives a chance to further his creative instincts.

Jon Moxley is not Dean Ambrose. If Dean Ambrose was the mask, Jon Moxley is his true face. Chris Jericho's current incarnation in AEW promises to be something special. Chris Jericho has said this in interviews he wants to pick and choose his matches carefully. He's unsure of how many matches he has left but having one against Jon Moxley could certainly be interesting to watch.

Chris Jericho has proven he can still entertain the masses and Jon Moxley may also want to go the distance with the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla.

#3. Hangman Page

Hangman's bluff?

One of the better up and coming wrestlers on the AEW roster, he is the one who is most likely to be the first AEW champion. He is slated to go against Pac at AEW Double or Nothing. He is agile in the ring and can move with the very best in the business.

His match with Joey Janela at All In was violent, over-the-top and entertaining. The older and scarier Jon Moxley could easily have a great feud with him in AEW. While Hangman Page leaves a lot to be desired in the promo department, a potential match with Jon Moxley would certainly be worth the price of admission to watch these two battle it out in the ring.

Hangman Page is a dynamic in-ring performer willing to improvise and innovate. In a way, he's very similar to Jon Moxley. Don't believe me? Check the video below.

#2. Cody Rhodes

A real match-up?

Cody Rhodes and Dean Ambrose faced each other several times in the WWE. But was any of it memorable? Sure, they had The Rhodes Family take on The Shield but it didn't really get better after that. But, there was never really a proper buildup for any of their matches.

Cody Rhodes' current avatar as The American Nightmare is very different from his WWE character(s). There is something organic and unique about it and Cody seems to be at his creative best and his in-ring skills have only gotten better. Some of the best matches of his career have outside in WWE in places like ROH, NJPW and All In.

His buildup for his match against his brother Dustin Rhodes is fascinating to say the least and the match promises to be quite the showcase at AEW Double or Nothing. Jon Moxley vs The American Nightmare would certainly put butts in the seats.

#1. Kenny Omega

Dream match?

If there was a dream match that fans would love to see, it's this one. Let's be honest. Everyone wants a match with Kenny Omega but very few are deserving of it. Jon Moxley is certainly one who can match Kenny Omega in a promo and has the ability to innovate in the ring.

Kenny Omega is someone willing to take his risks and deliver something special. He's willing to put life and limb on the line to entertain the masses and his opponent should be someone who is equivalent in heart, wrestling prowess as well as wrestling psycholoy. Jon Moxley has all of that and more.

His Jon Moxley promos have a sense of insanity about them that was not present in Dean Ambrose. It's almost unchained. The right booking and buildup between Jon Moxley and The Cleaner could be the one for the ages.
