Blue Lock Season 2 Episode 1, titled 'Tryouts,' saw Ego Jinpachi reveal the top six players of Blue Lock and how he plans on using them as the foundation for the Blue Lock Eleven team. As for the rest of the players, he offered them a one-match tryout to showcase their assertion and coexistence while playing alongside top six players.

For this, all 29 players were to pick which duo of strikers they wished to play alongside. The only player allowed to pick two teams was Meguru Bachira, the seventh-ranked player. Isagi was confused over whom he should pick between Rin and Nagi's team. But after an exchange with Reo Mikage, Isagi chose to play alongside Rin and Shidou.
