Dragon Ball Daima released its first teaser trailer on Thursday, October 12. While many fans were happy to see the franchise releasing a new anime, certain fans were disappointed to see how the animation studio Toei Animation was handling their fan-favorite duo - Goten and Trunks.

Goten and Trunks were introduced to the franchise as prodigies who were able to transform into Super Saiyans from the ripe old ages of seven and eight, respectively. While they did have their time to shine during the Fusion Saga, everything has gone downhill for the duo since then. Just as it seemed like the franchise would finally depict the duo as older teenagers, the new anime teaser left them with a new fate.

As evident from the Dragon Ball Daima teaser trailer, all the characters in the series are set to be turned into younger versions of themselves. While adult characters like Goku and Vegeta are going to be turned into adolescents, Goten and Trunks are going to be turned into babies.

Fans were fed up with how Goten and Trunks barely had any physical changes since their first appearance in Dragon Ball Z. Just when the duo had grown taller and started going to high school in the manga, Toei Animation produced an anime that saw the duo turn into babies. Considering that the anime itself will be released in Fall 2024, the duo was set to remain babies till 2025.

Many fans even pointed out that if Goten and Trunks were turned into babies, there was a likely chance that Pan and Bulla might have been removed from existence. That said, there is a chance that the anime takes place right after the Kid Buu Saga, meaning that they may never have been born.

Many fans were certain that the duo was only getting such treatment because they had been reduced to become side characters in the series. This is also evident from how the two characters, despite their power levels, weren't even included in the Universe 7 team during the Tournament of Power Saga.

Meanwhile, there were some fans who tried to find the humor in the incident. Some fans claimed that the Dragon Ball Daima anime was a win for the fans considering how it brought back Trunks' purple hair. As evident from Dragon Ball Super, Trunks' hair turns from blue to purple as he grows older. Given that fans were more fond of his purple hair, they were happy that he got it back in the new series.

In the meantime, some fans joked about how Piccolo was yet again going to be left with babysitting tasks. He had previously taken care of Gohan and Pan, hence there is a likely chance he will be asked to take care of baby Goten and Trunks.

There were some fans who started suggesting alternative plots the anime could have gone with. One fan suggested how the Dragon Ball Daima anime could have had the adults turn into kids and the kids turned into adults. This would have left characters like Goten, Trunks, Pan, and Bulla to figure out how they could help out their parents.

Lastly, one fan decided to take this opportunity to praise Dragon Ball Kakumei, the doujinshi manga series that saw Goten and Trunks become Super Saiyan Gods. Many other fans joined them in praising the doujinshi series as its creators cared about the side characters.
