Frieren anime episode 6 was released on October 13, 2023, at 11 p.m. JST on Nippon TV's Friday Anime Night timeslot. Produced by Madhouse Studios, the visually captivating episode witnessed the remarkable resolve of Stark as he took on the dangerous Solar Dragon to save the village.
Undoubtedly, MAPPA has done a fabulous job animating Stark's battle against the dragon. Like previous installments in the series, the episode also featured numerous breathtaking visuals. The latest episode covered chapters 11 and 12 and saw the Elfen mage continuing her journey to the northern lands, accompanied by Fren and Stark.
Frieren anime episode 6 highlights
Stark acquires resolve to battle the Solar Dragon and eventually defeats it with sheer might
Following the previous episode's events, Frieren anime episode 6 kicked off with Fren asking Stark why he kept training despite not having any real intention to fight the dragon. However, the red-haired warrior explained how he wanted to repay the debt to the villagers, who hailed him as a hero.
That said, he still wanted to run away. However, Fren was confident that Stark wouldn't leave the villagers. To imbue him with resolve, she also narrated a story about how she confronted her first adversary.
The next day, Stark appeared to battle the solar dragon, albeit slightly late. The Elfen mage noticed Stark's hands were shaking, prompting her to compare him to Eisen. Frieren mentioned how Eisen used to shake like that before his fights in the past.
Gathering resolve, Stark focused on the solar dragon and jumped to the battlefield. Frieren anime episode 6 then saw the red-haired warrior dodging several attacks from the fierce dragon. Eventually, he landed a decisive blow to the dragon's head with his giant axe.
Stark couldn't believe that he defeated the solar dragon all by himself. The elfen mage congratulated him and mentioned how he went beyond her expectations. While scavenging magical treasures from the dragon's nest, Stark told the elfen mage how Eisen felt about her.
Apparently, Eisen told the red-haired warrior about how Frieren made their heroic adventure into a silly journey. The Frieren anime episode 6 then shifted to a flashback showing a heartfelt moment between the heroic party.
Back at the village, Frieren asked Stark about what he wanted to do. He could go back to Eisen's if he wanted to. However, the young warrior decided to join Frieren's party because that's what his master wanted. Besides, he wanted to go on a "ridiculous journey" with Frieren, just like his master.
Frieren and her new party arrive at Waal to pass through the northern checkpoint
Frieren anime episode 6 then saw the party arriving at the Fortress City of Waal, located near the Riegel Canyon, Central Lands. However, they were told by the guard captain that passing through the northern checkpoints was prohibited for the time being as the northern lands were filled with wandering monsters.
Frieren, however, saw this as an opportunity, as she decided to spend some quality time in the town researching magic items. She even proposed to Fren and Stark to stay in the town for a while since it was safe. Later, Fren heard from the townsfolk that it would take two years for the checkpoint to open.
Fren then asked Stark if he'd be content to stay in the town for two years. She was relieved to hear that the red-haired warrior was on the same page as her. As such, they took it upon themselves to find a way to get through the checkpoint. It wasn't possible to fly over the wall because of a magic barrier.
Frieren anime episode 6 then saw the warrior and the mage asking the common townsfolk, merchants, guild members, and others for a way to pass through the checkpoint. However, they discovered that there was no practical way to go through the checkpoint. In fact, the trade had also been cut off due to the troubles posed by the wandering monsters in the northern regions.
Later, Stark's real reason for joining Frieren's party was revealed. His master, Eisen, usually didn't talk much about himself. However, when it came to his adventures, he loved to narrate the stories. Despite his long life, Eisen treasured his ten-year journey more than anything in his life.
However, he was too old to go on another adventure. As such, the red-haired warrior wanted to fully experience the silly yet fun journey in Eisen's place and bring back lots of stories to share with him. That's the only way he could repay the debt to his master. He further mentioned that if he lazed around for too long, his master would die.
Elsewhere in Frieren anime episode 6, the elf mage felt she was being followed. Fren and Stark joined her company and asked what was wrong. At that moment, the guard captain came and apologized to the elfen mage. Later, the castellan of the town asked the mage to forgive the guard captain for not recognizing her.
In fact, he surmised that Frieren wished to go to the Northern Lands to deal with the endless conflict caused by the remnants of the demon king's army. He believed that the people of the northern lands would be delighted to see Frieren. As such, he permitted the elfen mage and her party to pass through the checkpoint.
Frieren, Fren, and Stark were then sent off ceremoniously. Stark wondered whether Eisen's departure for the north was similar, and he was right. The Frieren anime episode 6 ended with the party departing for the north, although Frieren wanted to stay longer in the town to research magic.
