Chapter 242 recap
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 242 began with Kenjaku summoning a Special Grade Cursed Spirit, which was then immediately run over by a truck that Takaba was driving. Kenjaku then became a cop, asking Takaba to blow into a bag with a goldfish for a breathalyzer test. Upon realizing the fish was already dead, the two became a doctor and nurse pair, unsuccessfully trying to save the fish’s life in a hospital.
Kenjaku then recognized the true nature of Takaba’s Comedian Cursed Technique as the two shifted into a gameshow-like setting. After answering some questions, the scene shifted to Takaba trying to save a cat from getting run over. The cat then turned out to be Kenjaku, who kicked Takaba into the car. However, the scene then shifted to Takaba being a cat drowning in the ocean, with Kenjaku trying to rescue him.
Takaba then appeared behind him on a jetski and ran him over, prompting the two to then begin playing in the ocean as Kenjaku commented on having so much fun. He then tried drowning Takaba but was pulled back into his joy, saying he would lose at this rate due to the damage he’s taking from these simulations. The chapter ended with Kenjaku setting up a final comedy set showdown for the two of them to end their fight with.
What to expect (speculative)
With Kenjaku and Takaba’s fight in its final stages, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 243 will likely open by showing their comedy set beginning, establishing the means of victory in the set’s context. More likely than not, the victor will be whoever can make the “crowd” laugh harder, thus fulfilling Takaba’s desire for comedy.
