The Kagurabachi bonus chapter was released on November 25, 2024, at 12 am JST in Weekly Shonen Jump issue #52. The main story has taken a break for the week and will return in the next Weekly Shonen Jump issue. The bonus chapter saw Genichi Sojo, the major antagonist from the manga's Cloud Gouger arc.
In the previous chapter, Samura killed Uruha because he wanted to eradicate the Enchanted Sword Bearers. He believed the sword bearers were more evil than the HIshaku because of the sins they committed in the past. As such, he forced Uruha into a death duel, where he slashed the ex-Kumeyuri user. On the other hand, Hakuri summoned Chihiro to the temple, who couldn't believe Samura's actions.

Kagurabachi bonus chapter: Genichi Sojo goes to a public bathhouse to relax
Kagurabachi bonus chapter, titled Genichi Sojo's Bathhouse Quest, begins with a monologue, where Sojo reveals how he loves to go through a ritual of enjoying a hot bath before an important job. That's why it heads to the Kurushio Bathhouse, a five-minute walk from the Kurushio station on Tokyo's Soya line.
Sojo mentions it's an old bathhouse near the residential area. Although it's small, it has a sauna. The bathhouse's receptionist, Tae (aged 78), hands over a set of towels to Sojo. According to the Kagurabachi bonus chapter, another bathhouse near the Kurushio has a bigger sauna and soaking pools.
However, Genichi Sojo couldn't go there because they don't allow people with tattoos. While enjoying his bath, Sojo looks up at the sky and decides to leave once it's dark. Just then, in the Kagurabachi bonus chapter, Sojo reveals that his important mission is to retrieve the Enchanted Blade, Cloud Gouger.
It's one of the dream-come-true moments for Sojo, who admires Kunishige's works. Since he has a job, he can't get worked up. That's why he intends to relax his mind and body and be in peak condition. Soon after, Sojo heads for the sauna and notices it's under maintenance.
Dejected, he returns to the bath and applies shampoo. However, it's a "cool shampoo," which he doesn't appear to like. Suddenly, a group of Yakuza enter the bath and ask him for a 40% refund for a weapon he sold to them. Apparently, their boss isn't happy with the results.
However, Sojo tells them he has already demonstrated the item, and both parties have agreed to the contract. When the Yakuza group doesn't listen, Sojo kills them off-screen. Following that in the Kagurabachi bonus chapter, Sojo searches for a fruit-flavored milk.
Tae tells him it's out of stock, so he settles for some coffee milk. Besides the milk, Sojo complains about the shampoo. While he doesn't mind mentholated, cool shampoo, he feels it's something for the summer. Since it's already October, he feels they shouldn't keep such stock.
Additionally, Sojo tells Tae that she should have informed him if the sauna wasn't available. The receptionist apologizes, saying it totally slipped her mind. Sojo grumbles since his crucial bath time is a disaster. However, he decides to let it go since it's a special day when his dreams come true.
After drinking the coffee, Sojo recycles the bottle and the cap. The Kagurabachi bonus chapter ends with Genichi Sojo walking out of the bath and heading to collect the Cloud Gouger Enchanted Blade.
Kagurabachi bonus chapter review and conclusion
The latest Kagurabachi bonus chapter shows a nice change of pace from the constant action. Although Takeru Hokazono hasn't explicitly revealed why the main story is on a break, he has compensated for the lack of a chapter with a bonus chapter on one of his favorite characters from the series, Genichi Sojo.
The chapter has impressive panels with distinct art quality. Undoubtedly, the latest chapter proves how much Takeru Hokazono loves to draw Sojo. Besides decent art, the chapter contains nice humor and shows Sojo in a different light. It remains to be seen whether the author does these types of extra chapters for other characters.
