On June 13, 2025, Warner Bros. Discovery announced the release date of the Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League film for Thursday, July 3, 2025, on Max, via media release. The announcement also revealed several other information regarding the cast and production staff for the series, along with a brief synopsis of the story.
The sequel to the popular global anime film in 2018, Batman Ninja, has been highly anticipated by fans for its unique blend of their fan favorite DC characters with the Japanese anime style. The film was originally released on March 18, 2025.
Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League film's July 2025 release date
As mentioned earlier, the Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League film's streaming date on Max was announced for Thursday, July 3, 2025, by Warner Bros. Discovery on June 13, 2025, via a media release on the production company's official website. The film will exclusively be released on the company's premier global streaming platform, Max (soon to be HBO Max).
The film is a sequel to the globally celebrated and popular anime film series, Batman Ninja, which was released back in 2018. As per the theme, the Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League film features one of DC's most celebrated superheroes, Batman, and many others in a Japanese anime style, blending iconic characters with bold storytelling and visually stunning animation
The story, as described by the official Warner Bros. Discovery for the film, follows:
"Following his return to present-day Gotham City, in BATMAN NINJA VS. YAKUZA LEAGUE, Batman returns to feudal-era Japan to face off against a mysterious new threat – the Yakuza League – formed from the warped remnants of his greatest allies. "
To add further,
"He arrives to find a world where the Yakuza war with each other, and brutality reigns without honor or humanity. Fans can expect high-octane action, bold visuals, and fresh twists on beloved DC heroes and villains in this wholly original tale."
Staff and Cast information released for the upcoming 2025 film
Following up on the same announcement for the Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League film's release on Max, Warner Bros. Discovery also revealed the names of several cast and staff members for the project.
While the directors Jumpei Mizusaki and Shinji Takagi, the writer Kazuki Nakashima, the character designer Takashi Okazaki, and the music composer Yugo Kanno returned from the original "Batman Ninja" film of 2018 to work on the upcoming project, the company KAMIKAZE DOUGA joined for the animation production, while Warner Bros. Japan remained the overall producer.
