Beastars creator's SANDA anime reveals October 2025 release date and additional cast with new PV and visual

On Friday, June 6, 2025, the official site and X handle for the SANDA anime shared a new trailer. The video confirmed the show's October 4, 2025, release date. The short clip also revealed the anime's additional cast members.

Produced by Science SARU, SANDA anime is an adaptation of the eponymous shonen manga series, written and illustrated by Paru Itagaki, renowned for being the creator of the BEASTARS manga. Akita Shoten's Weekly Shonen Champion serialized the manga from July 2021 to July 2024, with its chapters collected into 16 volumes.

As per the latest promotional video shared by the official staff, SANDA anime will air its episodes every Saturday at 1:53 a.m. JST from October 4, 2025 (stylized as Friday, October 3, 2025, at 25:53 JST) on MBS, TBS and CBS channels' Animeism timeslot. The series will also premiere on BS-TBS channel at 2:33 a.m. JST on October 4, 2025.

The second teaser promotional video highlights a near-future Japan where children are overtly protected due to a declining birth rate. The short clip explores the main hero, Sanda Kazushige, and his classmates at the Daikoku Aid Academy. The video also captures Sanda's connection to Santa Claus and the fading Christmas legend.

Additional cast members include Umeka Shoji as Shiori Fuyumura, who discovers Sanda's original identity, Anna Nagase as Ichie Ono, Fuyumura's best friend, Yuki Shin as Hitoshi Amaya, Sanda's roommate, and Misato Matsuoka as Niko Kazao, Sanda's fiancé.

The latest SANDA anime trailer previews the voices of the newly announced cast members. Previously, it was disclosed that Ayumu Murase would voice Kazushige Sanda, and Hiroki Tochi would play Santa Claus. More cast members will likely be announced in the future.

Tomohisa Shimoyama directs the thriller anime at Science SARU, the animation studio that recently worked on Dandadan. Kimiko Ueno, who has previously worked on Delicious in Dungeon, is in charge of the series scripts and composition. Masamichi Ishiyama is the show's chief animation director and character designer. Tomoyuki Tanaka is the music composer.

Based on the Beasters creator's manga, the SANDA anime is set in a near-future Japan, where children are overly protected due to a declining birthrate.

The story follows Kazushige Sanda, who finds out his connection to Santa Claus. He also discovers that his classmate, Shiori Fuyumura, has plans to eliminate him because of the "curse" he bears.
