On Thursday, June 20, 2024, Oshi no Ko live-action launched its official website and announced its release date and staff details with its new promotional video and teaser visual. Oshi no Ko live-action is set to premiere on November 28, 2024, on Amazon Prime Video. This will be followed by a continuation movie set to release in theaters on December 20, 2024.
Oshi no Ko, written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, follows the story of Aqua and Ruby, the twin children of the late idol Ai who was murdered by an obsessed fan. However, the surprising thing is that both Aqua and Ruby are the reincarnations of Ai's fans who passed away before their birth as Ai's children.
Oshi no Ko live-action unveils drama and movie release date
Oshi no Ko live-action drama series is set to premiere on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at 9 PM JST. The series will premiere on Amazon Prime Video and has been listed for eight episodes.
Following the drama series, Oshi no Ko live-action will release a continuation movie set to release in theaters on Friday, December 20, 2024.
This announcement was made with a teaser visual and promotional video. The teaser visual features glimpses from the drama series that have been collaged together in the form of Social Media posts posted by the fans of each celebrity.
As for the promotional video, it gave fans glimpses of the old B-Komachi as Ai led the concerts through her exhilarating skills as an idol. Additionally, it gave fans glimpses of the characters such as Aqua Hoshino, Ruby Hoshino, Kana Arima, Mem-Cho, Akane Kurokawa, and Sarina Tendouji through several snippets.
Lastly, the promotional video also gave fans a first look at Ai Hoshino's death scene.
Ryusuke Imoto from Toei has undertaken the planning and production responsibility for Oshi no Ko live-action projects. Joining him is Smith, who is directing both the movie and drama series. Fortunately, Hana Matsumoto will share the responsibility with him as a Director for the drama.
The script has been written by Ayako Kitagawa and the music will be composed by fox capture plan.
The announcement also revealed Ryusuke Imoto's comment on Oshi no Ko live-action projects.
He revealed how it had been two years since Toei had been entrusted with the drama series and movie for Oshi no Ko. Since then, he has gone through a lot of torment in trying to do the original work justice. While he still does not know if their work will resonate with the fans, he hopes it reaches everyone's hearts. With that, Ryusuke Imoto thanked everyone who was involved in the project.
