The Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories anime staff announced on Friday, June 6, 2025, that the popular horror series will start its season 15 on July 13, 2025, onwards. The series will be available on the Japanese TV network Tokyo MX, and the upcoming season will cover the theme "remains".

The release included names of several new cast members, along with other returning members, for the upcoming season, alongside other key details. The information was relayed via the anime's official website and Comic Natalie.

As mentioned earlier, the popular TV anime series Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories will be releasing its 15th season on Sunday, July 13, 2025, on the popular Japanese TV network, Tokyo MX. While it is yet to be confirmed by ILCA, the production studio, this season will likely feature 13 episodes, based on all the previous installments.

Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories season 15 will feature some new cast members joining the team, who have been named in the official source: Kanji Tsuda, Yutaka Shimizu, Ponzu, Satoko Tsuchiya, Kōichi Kosse, Nana Akuzawa, Yūta Hoshino, Hina Koyonagi, Kyōka Maruyama, Hako Ōshima, and Toshimasa Niiro. Furthermore, Naoto Inti Raymi is performing the ending theme song Dauto.

The director and producer of the series from the last 4 seasons (season 11- season 14), Akira Funada, will be returning to direct this season as well, under Studio ILCA, with production cooperation from ILCASHIPS and LEON STUDIO. Scriptwriters Hiromu Kumamoto, Mitsuhiro Sasaki, and Kanako Ishigami will be working on season 15.

Takuya Iwasaki and Norio Yamakawa will be joining as additional producers of the season, as per the news information. Some key animators have also been named for the upcoming season- Kazuma Taketani, Jimmy, "nishiyama&rie," Momoka Higurashi, Hiromasa Horie, OHAGI, Takashi Iitsuka, and Norio Yamakawa, with Yū Ebihara animating the opening and ending.

Additionally, storyboarders will include: Shōma Mutō, Choji Yoshikawa, and Kazuma Taketani. With Crunchyroll having a history of streaming the series with its official release in Japan, they will also likely stream Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories season 15 on its release on July 13, 2025.

In additional news, the project has inspired a spinoff series, The World Yamizukan, back in 2017. The anime also inspired the Ninja Collection spinoff anime, which premiered in July 2020. Both series were streamed on and are available on Crunchyroll. Yamishibai: Japanese Ghost Stories also got a live-action series adaptation that premiered in Japan in September 2020.
