In addition, the promotional video also confirmed the theme song information for the series and previewed one theme, and was released alongside a new key visual for the series.

The Soshimin anime series also confirmed its Japanese television broadcast release information in the trailer, as well as the domestic Japanese streaming info. Unsurprisingly, international streaming information for the highly anticipated Summer 2024 series has also yet to be confirmed as of this article’s writing.

The Soshimin anime serves as the television anime adaptation of author Honobu Yonezawa’s original Shoshimin mystery novel series. The series began in December 2004, and has released five total volumes as of April 2024. The series has also had its first two novels be adapted into manga series which ran in Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy magazine.

The series will then begin airing on BS Asahi a week later at 1 AM JST, and will begin airing on CS TV Asahi Channel 1 on August 4 at 9 PM JST.

Eve is set to perform the opening theme song “Sweet Memory,” which is also heard in the anime’s latest promotional video as seen above. The ending theme song “Itokenai” will be performed by ammo. Mamoru Kanbe is directing the anime series at Lapin Track studios. Toshiya Ono is overseeing the series’ scripts, with Atsushi Saito designing the characters and Takahiro Obata composing the music for the anime series.

The key visual released alongside the trailer features main characters Jogoro Kobato and Yuki Osanai, and features the text Shoshimin Series: Shunki Gentei Ichigo Tart Jiken (The Case of the Springtime Limited-Edition Strawberry Tart). This is the title of one of the two original novels which the anime will adapt in its premiere outing.

The Shoshimin anime stars Shuichiro Umeda and Hina Yomiya as Kobato and Osanai, respectively. The two are joined by Makoto Furukawa as Kengo Dojima, who is the athletic and courteous childhood friend of Jogoro Kobato. It is expected that additional cast will be announced as the anime’s release date approaches, and as the series progresses through its first season.

The series focuses on Kobato, who wishes to live a quiet and ordinary life after suffering an undisclosed “painful experience.” He and Osanai form a “mutually beneficial relationship” after realizing she also wants the same. Their story starts as two high school classmates planning to spend their peaceful days as ordinary people, but they keep getting wrapped up in mysteries and disasters one after the other.
