Ever since its release, fans have heavily criticized The Beginning After the End anime series for its lack of effort in adapting the animation from the popular manhwa series by Brandon Lee, also known by the username TurtleMe. With a track record of mediocre anime adaptations, Studio A-Cat's blunder was anticipated by fans in advance.
While the series and story are considered among the best in the Isekai genre, the anime adaptation has been a significant failure. Furthermore, the series has reached a new low, making it unlikely to recover and regain its position among other successful series.

The Beginning After the End hits a new low, with a narrow chance of recovery
On June 8, 2025, X user @ChibiReviews informed others that The Beginning After the End TV anime series is one of the lowest-rated anime on MyAnimeList.net. While the series can still recover from fans' verbal and social criticism, being rated this low will have a heavy impact on the series' future.
MyAnimeList is a go-to resource for all anime lovers planning to start watching a new series and is also the largest collection of information on the internet about various anime series. A poor review on such a website undoubtedly harms a series' reputation, especially when it has been a fan favorite with its manhwa and light novel.
Fans of The Beginning After the End have been vocal on various social media platforms about their dissatisfaction with the anime adaptation of the series, especially following the announcement that Studio A-Cat was supposed to take up the animation. The studio already had a poor reputation for producing mediocre anime, which did not help their case.
While TurtleMe addressed the situation multiple times on social media, fans did not blame him for the poor quality of the adaptation or his choice of studio. Instead, they shifted their focus to both Studio A-Cat and Crunchyroll for misleading an emerging author into a bad decision. With this new low point on MyAnimeList, the anime series' reputation became pretty self-explanatory.
Fans' remarks to The Beginning After the End hitting this new low
Fans of The Beginning After the End have been vocal about their concerns and displeasure with the choice of animation studio from the start, even before the series' release. Moreover, as the episodes progressed, their worries grew stronger due to the low quality of the animation. When the MyAnimeList news came out, fans' remarks pretty much painted the picture:
"I blame A-CAT and Crunchyroll for blindsiding a man with a dream and destroying a great series," said one fan.
"Yeah, it's a series I was hyped for but with each episode I'm like "did they run out of budget here?" Only to be disappointed by the very next episode. IDK what happened. It's not a series I enjoy", added another.
"Easily wins the most disappointing adaptation award, and I don't think it's even close," expressed a third.
"I’ve only seen 3 episodes and had to stop after that. It’s so low quality", said a fourth
The fate of The Beginning After the End anime series can now be considered sealed as one of the worst adaptations of a beloved and highly anticipated manhwa and light novel series. Any potential for future redemption for the series remains to be seen.
