Although he assumed that Oguri's mental health would take quite a hit after being unable to take part in one of the biggest races, Oguri herself was continuing her training with fewer problems.

After a few more Grade 2 race wins, Roppei urged Oguri to take a brief vacation, mentioning how recreation and relaxation are some of the most integral processes for a horse girl like her. Although Berno Light and Oguri Cap managed to spend a rather relaxing day out in Tokyo, Sensuke, the reporter previously covering Oguri's escapades, coincidentally stumbled upon her.

While Sensuke wasn't able to figure out too much from their brief conversation, he managed to gauge how Roppei intended to enter Oguri into a race against Tamamo Cross. Cross was the most prominent upcoming star and a potential silver-haired horsegirl; she had intensity similar to and somewhat surpassing Oguri's own.

Sometime later, Oguri confided to Fujimasa March how she had lost a proper goal ever since she had to forsake both the Tokai Derby and the Japanese Derby. The episode ended with March simply urging Oguri to target the next "peak" by defeating Tamamo Cross and becoming the most prominent horse girl in the nationals.
