Transformations are at the core of the Dragon Ball franchise’s fighting and progression system. From Super Saiyan to Ultra Instinct, every major transformation introduced has had rippling effects throughout the storyline at large.
Yet even throughout the franchise’s more-than 35 years of existence, there are still transformations which fans are still expressing a desire to see. Near the top of this is fans asking “will Vegeta get Ultra Instinct?” It is a somewhat silly wish considering Ultra Ego’s introduction but nevertheless, it is still wished for.
Here are the ten Dragon Ball transformations fans are desperate for in canon.
“Will Vegeta get Ultra Instinct?” and 9 other Dragon Ball transformations fans want
1) Ultra Instinct Vegeta
When Ultra Instinct was first introduced in Dragon Ball Super’s Tournament of Power, fans questioned whether or not Vegeta would also get the form. He even seemed to tap into it for a brief moment, though in hindsight, this seemed to be luck or basic battle instinct.
With the introduction of Ultra Ego, and confirmation from both Vegeta and Beerus that Ultra Instinct wasn’t his style, he’ll likely never achieve the form. Nevertheless, it remains one of the most tantalizing fantastical forms for fans of the franchise.
2) Golden Great Ape
While the regular Great Ape form has long since been canonized (in multiple instances, no less), the Golden Great Ape form has yet to receive such treatment. First seen in Dragon Ball GT, this is essentially a Super Saiyan Great Ape, further multiplying the massive boost in power standard Great Ape form bestows.
Unfortunately for fans, GT has essentially been decanonized since the series initially ended. Dragon Ball Super further decanonized this, as well as (to a lesser degree) the Z epilogue. With so many instances of prior events being retconned, it’s unlikely GT will make its way back into the canon, and Golden Great Ape along with it.
3) Super Saiyan 4 Goku
While Super Saiyan 4 would be fantastic to see used by Saiyans at large, it would be especially emotional to see SSJ4 Goku canonized.
The most famous transformation from Dragon Ball GT is also one of fans’ most favorite transformations. For this to be reintroduced would be a dream come true for many fans, even if the dream is somewhat unrealistic.
4) Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta
Likewise, Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta is an incredibly-appealing transformation to many Dragon Ball fans. Despite its non-canon status, the form is the ideal one for the character in the eyes of many die-hard fans. His power in this form reaches another level, and while Ultra Ego may surpass it in power, it still has a long way to go to surpass it in legend.
5) Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta
Before the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie, both aspects of this transformation seemed impossible to enter the canon. Now, with Gogeta’s canon introduction, it’s at least more realistic than it once was. While there is no doubt the greatest hump to overcome here is SSJ4’s reintroduction, it’s still nevertheless possible for the form to come back.
6) Autonomous Ultra Instinct Goku
Ever since Whis differentiated that Mastered Ultra Instinct and Autonomous Ultra Instinct are two different forms, fans have longed for Goku to reach the pinnacle. Many believe that Dragon Ball Super will chronicle his progression to the form, potentially ending in another heavenly power-up for the Saiyan.
While his Mastered Ultra Instinct form is impressive as is, the Autonomous variant is likely still far, far away for him.
7) Angel Goku
When Goku does finally reach that point, many fans are theorizing that Goku will become Whis’ Angelic replacement for Universe 7. Dragon Ball Super fans seem somewhat split on this topic, but it would no doubt be an interesting and logical progression. He’s already on the Angelic route of power-ups via Ultra Instinct.
8) God of Destruction Vegeta
Likewise, some Dragon Ball Super fans also theorize that Vegeta will eventually become Beerus’ replacement as Universe 7’s God of Destruction. Toppo’s being elected to replace Belmod in Universe 11 at least indicates a mortal selection for a successor to be an option.
Having already unlocked Ultra Ego, he’s begun the path of a Destroyer anyway, making this a logical end to his journey.
9) Super Saiyan Blue Gohan
While Goku and Vegeta have dominated this list, they’re not the only transformations fans want to see. Gohan’s fall from grace after the Cell Games saga has made fans want to see a new transformation from him for ages, and the Super Saiyan God line of transformations is particularly popular.
While it does go against both the anime and manga motivations of his current character, fans nevertheless still express a desire to see Super Saiyan Blue Gohan.
10) Legendary Super Saiyan Blue Broly
Finally, with his recanonization (and recent confirmation of his training with Whis and Beerus), fans often express a desire to see a Super Saiyan Blue Broly. This power buildoff of his Legendary Super Saiyan transformation would be an absolute powerhouse and a delight to see in action.
With him training under Godly associates, it’s arguably the most likely Dragon Ball transformation on this list.
