The San Diego Padres are doing everything in their power to win the franchise's first ever World Series. The club has added some serious firepower over the last year in the hopes of competing with some of the MLB's top teams.

Six-time All-Star Manny Machado recently signed a colossal 11-year, $350 million extension with the organization. Veteran pitcher Yu Darvish was also extended for six more years. Outfielder Juan Soto and closer Josh Hader were added right before the 2022 trade deadline.

Despite heavy investment in the roster, some San Diego Padres fans are still not satisfied. One fan has his heart set on bringing in 2021 American League MVP Shohei Ohtani to Southern California. The over-confident fan was spotted at Petco Park with a custom-made Ohtani Padres jersery.

MLB fans took to Twitter to debate where the two-way superstar may end up next season.

MLB columnist Jon Heyman recently hinted that the Padres may be interested in putting in an offer for Ohtani next season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the favorites to sign the Japanese sensation after a surprisingly quiet offseason. The Dodgers lowered their payroll significantly, causing many fans to speculate that they will bid for Ohtani next year.

Shohei Ohtani's becomes a free agent at the end of the season and could sign with an MLB competitor like the San Diego Padres

Shohei Ohtani recently agreed to a one-year, $30 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels but is set to become a free agent at the end of the season. A long list of teams will be interested in signing a player of his caliber.

The fact that Ohtani never reached the MLB playoffs has many fans believing he will move on from the Los Angeles Angels.

The San Diego Padres have been one of the league's most aggressive teams in the market. They have proven that they have the funds and the desire to chase a championship. Expect San Diego to be one of the bidders next offseason if Ohtani does choose to leave Anaheim.
