The Los Angeles Dodgers have been dominating the major league this season, and this fact is being appreciated by the star of their sibling NBA franchise, the Los Angeles Lakers. NBA great LeBron James praised the Dodgers for their efforts, especially how they defeated the San Diego Padres by 2-0 in Game 5 of the NLDS to secure a spot in the National League Championship Series.
The Dodgers won the first game, however, the Padres won the next two in the best-of-five series, which meant the Padres were just one win away from kicking the Dodgers out of the postseason. The Dodgers did not let that happen, however, winning both games in shutouts to snatch the NLDS from the Padres.
Seeing this, LeBron James posted on X/Twitter and wished the LA team the best.
"Congrats @Dodgers on Advancing to NLCS!!!!" James wrote.
Well, despite the tweet, LeBron James was also present in the crowd at Game 5 between the Dodgers and Padres. He was present with his wife Savannah on Friday night and was seen cheering on the LA team. Now, MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani is one step away from making it to the World Series for the first time in his career.
After the game, in another tweet, LeBron James also wished the best to the Cleveland Guardians as they take on the Detroit Tigers in Game 5 of the ALDS. The winner will go on to face the Dodgers in the next round.
"@CleGuardians Best of luck tomorrow!!! O-H," James tweeted.
Dodgers outfielder Kike Hernandez leads team to Shohei Ohtani's first championship series
This year's NLCS will be the first championship series for the Los Angeles Dodgers since 2021, and it will be the first-ever championship series for the Japanese designated hitter Shohei Ohtani. This has become possible because of the homer hit by Kike Hernandez in the second inning against Yu Darvish, which set up a pace for the rest of the game.
Moreover, in the seventh inning, Teoscar Hernandez sealed the deal with a homer of his own, and giving the Dodgers a two-run lead which got them the victory against the Padres. After the victory, Hernadez was hyped up and clenched his fist while shouting in favor of his team (via Orange County Register):
"These are the games we’ve been dreaming of as kids,” Hernandez said. “I got spoiled very early in my career to get the experience and get the opportunity to do this a lot. I think this is my ninth postseason now. It gets a little easier as you do it over and over again. It allows you to realize that it’s the same game."
The Dodgers will hope to keep their winning momentum going against the New York Mets in the NLCS.
