Farid Yu Darvishsefat is a Japanese Pitcher for the San Diego Padres in Major League Baseball (MLB). The 5 time MLB All-Star player has proved to be one of the most effective pitchers in the game. The veteran has also played in the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) in Japan and has also been a 5 time NPB All-Star player, while winning multiple accolades during his stint with the league.


Belonging from Habikino, Osaka, Japan, Darvish arrived in the MLB with the Texas Rangers on April 9, 2012. He has since then played for teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs and is presently playing for the San Diego Padres. In the 2013 MLB season, he led the AL in strikeouts (277). Yu Darvish grew up in Habikino, Osaka, Japan. He started his career in baseball ever since he was in second grade. He enrolled at Tohoku High School and played baseball for the school team. He took his team to the Koshien Tournament for for consecutive times. Furthermore, he also went on to the 85th National High school Baseball Championship but ultimately lost to Joso Gakuin High School. Throughout his high school career, he posted an ERA of 1.10 with 375 strikeouts in 332 and 332 and one third innings.


Darvish gained a lot of attention from several teams during the 2004 MLB draft. Instead he chose to remain in the NPB and joined the Hokkaido Nippon - Ham Fighters. During his stint with the team, he gained numerous achievements and accolades including winning the Japan Series championship in 2006. Furthermore, he also won the Eiji Sawamura Award in 2007. Yu Darvish is married to Seiko Yamamoto. She is a Japanese wrestler and submission grappler. She is a four time world wrestling champion and has won gold medal at every tournament that she has been. She is the daughter of a former Japanese wrestler and has followed in the footsteps of his father. However, she could not gain a gold medal in the Olympics. She retired from wrestling in 2007.
