Taking the mound for the visitors is Nick Pivetta, who has been the ace of San Diego's injury-hit pitching staff. He has a 6-2 record, along with a 3.48 ERA and 79 strikeouts.

With the bat, Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, Jackson Merrill and Gavin Sheets have been in charge of most of the offensive production for the Friars.

For the Diamondbacks, Merrill Kelly will start. Boasting an identical record and number of strikeouts as Pivetta, Kelly is better in terms of ERA at 3.18.

Offensively, Eugenio Suarez, Ketel Marte, Josh Naylor and Corbin Carroll are enjoying plenty of success for the D-backs, especially at home.

Despite Arizona having already clinched the series with back-to-back wins, San Diego should enter this one motivated to avoid the sweep. The Padres will get an important victory as the race to make the playoffs continues to heat up in the division.
